Review of The Barley

The beer and whiskey pub opened by Birol Namoğlu from Gripin Music Group and Berti Palambo, from one of the founders of Tektekçi in Galatasaray became a place where you can chat or pubbing in the bar section with indie and rock music. You can reply to the question of “ Why there is no bar owning different beer and whiskey kinds in Istanbul?” as The Barley. It placed its location on Akarsu Street with 138 kind of whiskey, 105 kinds of beer. You should also try the foods and snacks chosen according to the aromas of the drinks.

Even choosing your drink or giving order top barmaid might be annoying in so much kinds of drinks. The curiosity awaken by untried kinds and the indecision of trying. It also offers alternatives for cocktail lovers. It is located in Turkey not Scotland but it is not located in a luxury hotel or near Bosphorus. Its prices should be affordable. All these criterion has been provided and confronted us as Barley. The prices were between 29-140 TL for 6 cc glasses, 7-95 TL for beers. All the same there were some lack; some beer kinds were absent although they were written to menu.

The most important special of the venue is having the all legal beer and whiskey kinds in Turkey. Every beer and whiskey are serving with different snacks appropriate for every region/brand in a chic plate. Cezerye with cinnamon flavored hard candy powder accompany to the balanced, vibrant and creamy whiskeys; dried blue berry with hard candy powder accompany to the dense cacao whiskeys. If you were get tired of eating dry fruits with beer; cashar cheese make you smile. They are carefully choosing the dried fruits like pecan according to the flavor of the beer.

Actually one of the most important things is that the prices calculated proportionally with market as bottle. The venue also deserves the praise with its extraordinary serving style. Whiskeys are serving with their snacks and water in special wooden trays and this already drew the attention of the tourists and whiskey lovers. It was written the menu coming soon. Because the choices in the menu continue to increase day by day. They were sitting sections as bar stool and bench. They were not very comfortable but matching with the concept. There was also a street fighter game machine.

We tried Vintage Ale 2013. There was a different number for every bottle and can be aged until 10 years. Its color dark orange. Its tissue was creamy not clear. It was smelling sweet, like honey. Its taste was like sour dough bread. Its high alcohol rate % 8,5 was not felt in its taste and smell. It was easy to drink. Its price was a bit expensive. 50 cc bottle was 42 TL. Then we tried Delirium Tremens. It was one of the best beers made by Belgiums. The meaning of its name is a sick occurs in alcoholics. Its symptoms are shake and fear. Its color was light, easy to drink and again the alcohol rate was not felted. 33 cl was 24 TL.

Snacks and starters were various and successful. We tried veal sausage, grilled potato and combo trio pie. They were rich as portion and delicious. Their price level were normal. They were also information about matching according to whiskey kinds. Dried apple, bitter chocolate, pistachio delight with blended scotch or roasted pine nut, dried strawberry with balanced blended scotch. #KanGurular

Beer is good. Atmosphere chilling. +snacks with beer. A place that brings the Europe feeling back. Most waitresses even speak English. You shouldn't take this fact as taken here :)
