I found this hotel quite nice and well kept.
Rooms are large (at least the 2 I saw) and well furnished, maybe the closet is a bit on the small side, bathroom and shower are nice. I confirm what was written in a previus post, that it smells smoke, but it was not a major problem for us. Everywhere was very clean, and the room was done very well every day.
Breakfast is rich in fresh vegetables and cheese, just a bit poor if you like sweet food; overall I found it quite good, especially the borek which is served warm. Hotel staff is kind.
A final word about the location: it is definitely not a slum (as said in a previous post), it's just a commercial area which gets quite crowded during the day, also with traffic (which is anyway not a problem for night). There are many taxtile shops and a few bars. We were visiting relatives living close by and that's why we chose this hotel. Transfer to airport was fast and cheap (10 euros by taxi).
To go to the centre (let's say Taksim) it takes 30 minutes and 15 euros by taxi, but time can vary depending on the traffic (which is normal in Istanbul like in any other big city in the world). There is also a metro station next corner but I think the taxi is a better choice in general (it's relatively cheap).
Overall, if you need to stay in that area for some reason, I would definitely suggest this hotel.
