Vardar is in a great location, a few hundred meters from the bus station and on the side of town nearest Ephesus.

The room & attached bathroom were clean, but not the most spacious we've stayed in. There was a tv & A/C included, neither of which we used.

Breakfast was simple, but delicious, and served on the rooftop patio. The owner also invited us to her home/pension in the hills for dinner and a swim. If they make you this offer, TAKE IT! It's incredibly beautiful and at a great price, not to mention the wonderful food!

The only reason I gave Vardar a 4/5 instead of 5/5 is that the bed was a bit stiff. Otherwise, a great place to stay!

Vardar family pension is a real nice pension with small but neat rooms. Bathroom is also very clean. It is run by a friendly family and do not miss the oppurtunity to eat at their other pension which is near to the hills. Best turkish food so far and for a good price.

We stayed only one night at this hotel and it was very comfortable. The owner's daughter was at the bus station when we arrived and walked us to the hotel which is located right next to the bus station. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The only thing we didn't like was that we had 2 single beds instead of a double bed. Breakfast was very good and served on the rooftop terrasse which was nice. The best part about our stay was when the owners' daughter invited us to come eat dinner and use the pool at her pension which is located in the mountains. She picked us up at 6:30pm and drove us there free of charge. The home where she has 2 rooms is located in the mountains and has the most amazing views of the sunset. We swam in her stunning infinity pool also free of charge and were served the best meal we had in Turkey for only 20 lira. After our bellies were full of this amazing food, she drove us back to Vardar pension. It was a fantastic evening!

The pension was 3 min. from the bus station and easy to find out.
The pension was family owned. Only the hostess Aya spoke English fluently but other family members could not speak English. When I wanted to ask something, her family called to her mobile for translation. Her father spoke German very well and I managed to communicate with some easy German words. (I am not good German speaker.)

As a small pension, the facility was very simple. There was no elevator but it was enough for the price.

I arrived very early morning before check-in time but I was able to use my room.

I was invited dinner with additional charge. It was quite interesting. I was taken to a beautiful lodge on a hill by car, where the family owned also.
I took dinner in the dinning room with other guests too. The dinner was full course and we enjoyed talking with wine.

We stayed here for three nights in July and found everything to be really great.

First, the location is superb - right in the centre of town and close to bus station. On Saturdays the HUGE market is literally outside the door - a must-do if you are here over the weekend!

The Vardar is spotlessly clean, breakfast was ample, delicious (the best tomatoes we have ever had!) and you could have as much bread/coffee/tea as you wanted. The shaded roof terrace was lovely.

Unlike many much higher-priced places, the air conditioning was free and VERY efficient. The wi-fi worked well everywhere (yes, even in our third-floor room), and we had a huge balcony with washing lines for our bits!

The family were really nice. Seval, her sisters, charming daughter and lovely parents all made us feel very welcome.

Most importantly, Seval was an absolute star! First, her English was impeccable and she could not have been more hospitable. When we left we travelled on to Bodrum. On arriving in Bodrum, my husband realised he had left a jacket behind in the wardrobe (with, more importantly, his diary in the pocket). We e-mailed Seval and she took the jacket to the bus station and gave it to the driver of the next Bodrum bus so my husband could collect at the bus station in Bodrum. Now that's what I call REAL service!

All in all a great stay and would recommend the Vardar to anyone who wants simple, clean and excellent value accommodation in a great location.

We decided to stay here because other reviews of this hotel were extremely positive. The only two critical comments from others were: 1) the wifi doesn't work on upper floors, and 2) the breakfast is simple/boring. In my opinion, both these criticisms are irrelevant (internet works fine on upper floors, and breakfast was great), but there is a much more important criticism worth noting. The owners (the older generations, anyway) were rather unfriendly. Granted, there was a major language barrier with the oldest generation, but even then they showed little interest in being helpful. The middle generation was helpful and friendly in 10-second spurts, then lost interest and attention. The friendliest interactions were with the youngest generation (teenaged daughter) who was always smiling and willing to take the time to answer questions. Hope for the future, I suppose...
