“Great tour, guide, and driver”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

We arrived by Cruise Ship into Kusadasi, Turkey and had booked a tour of Ephesus and our driver and guide Ender were waiting for us at the port terminal. Ender had thought ahead and figured that Ephesus could be busy so had already gotten our tickets for us before we arrived! Sure enough the lines were long at the ticket offices. This is one example of how this tour company and its guides excel at their profession. Ender's english was excellent, his detail of the ruins of Ephesus (they are huge so having a guide that knows enough to answer any questions is impressive) as well as his willingness to talk about the ins and outs of Turkey and the region of Kusadasi. Beautiful country, fantastic food, coastline, and history. We go on cruises so we can determine where to go back to. Kusadasi, Turkey is on the list and I would gladly use this tour company again.

Notes about Ephesus: it can be very hot, like everything that is ancient it is no place for those who can't walk and stand for long durations. You should bring water and bathrooms are present but towards the exit and there are very few with a very long line.

“Fabulous day!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We are a family of 5. We have a son(13) and two daughters (15 and 17). We were on the Princess Regal 10 day Mediterranean cruise. We pushed the kids every day of our 2 week vacation and besides 2 sea days (1 only up to Turkey). We woke up kinda dreading another tour, but to our pleasure, we had a fabulous day and we owe most of it to Isik, our tour guide. She was delightful and adapted to our family and what we wanted to do. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer many questions. We started at the House of Virgin Mary, then Ephesus, and then a few other drivebys or short stops. She asked us if we wanted to go to a rug maker coop with no pressure, we had been to a shop in Istanbul last summer, but wanted our kids to see the process. We also enjoyed the rug coop, we didn't buy a rug, but compared to the shop in Istanabul, it was almost a shame that we didn't. The prices were half! I would recommend this company, and especially ISIK!

“Best Ephesus Private Tours”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Zeynep is extraordinary! We had prearranged our tour, and she was there waiting for us to come off the ship. Her smile was inviting, since one does not know what to expect. Immediately she put us at ease and explained what she had in mind for us. The house of the Virgin Mary was the highlight, but the Roman Ruins, walking throughout the city was a close second. I highly recommend this tour AND this tour Guide, Zeynep. There was no wasted time, but the pace was perfect for us and my wife's 77yr old parents. We learned about their culture, the past. Not enough space to go into detail. Book it with Zeynep, you won't regret it!!!! MarkL.

“Awesome Ephesus Tour”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

In Feb, 2014, our family of 5 booked a 7 hour private tour for June 9, 2014 thru Elif and it was fabulous. We initially contacted them thru their website and Elif was prompt in providing us with all the options available to us. We were able to structure the tour to go where we wanted for 290 Euros. He re-confirmed our tour as the date got closer and at 8:30 AM, we were promptly met at our cruise ship dock in Kusadasi, Turkey by "Azer" our tour guide who held a sign up with our name on it. She was great: kind, knowledgable, patient, prompt, reliable, personable and who spoke wonderful English. We were driven in an air conditioned Mercedes Van to the ancient city of Ephesus, including the newly excavated Terrace Houses, the House of the Virgin Mary, Temple of Artemis, St Paul's Basilica, & a local Turkish rug store. She also took us to a local restaurant near Ephesus where we all had a delicious traditional Turkish lunch alfresco style in an outside patio under the olive trees. We were also given a demonstration of how Turkish rugs are weaved. She pre-purchased the admission tickets for Ephesus, the Terrace Houses, & House of Virgin Mary so we could bypass the long lines and get immediate entrance which was so convenient and we paid her at the end of the tour .Their email address is info@bestofephesus.com The driver was also great driving cautiously and waited outside each attraction until we were finished. We learned so much history from Azer & she was knowledgable to answer any of our questions. We were dropped off back at our cruise terminal dock. The tour was phenomenal and it was the best tour we had in our 2 week cruise vacation to the mediterranean. We gave them a 5 star rating and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a private tour. We are truly grateful for the experience.

“Amazing day in Ephesus!!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Just spent a day touring Ephesus with Best of Ephesus guide, Ceyda. She was amazing, giving us not only the historical facts about this very important ancient city, but also interesting tidbits that helped us imagine what it would have been like to live there 2000 years ago. Our reservation process online with Elif Erkan was simple and straightforward. He was extremely accommodating to our wishes, answered all of my emails with questions promptly, and had Ceyda waiting for us just outside the cruise terminal. It was an easy-paced 6 hour tour of the House of the Virgin Mary, Ancient Ephesus, the Terrace Houses, the Agora, the Grand Theater, and the Temple of Artemis. Elif had arranged for us to have lunch at a local cafe with traditional Turkish food, and it was delicious. There were 3 of us on the tour; the price per person goes down with more people - we paid 67 euros each for 6 hrs...a great deal for what was delivered! Not included in the tour cost were entry fees for The attractions. But tickets had been pre-purchased for us (meaning no lines to wait in), and we settled up at the end of the tour. Entry fees were about 22 euros per person.

Ephesus itself is an amazing and huge historical site with excavations still ongoing. The Terrace Houses (separate entry fee) are a must-see. We were not too impressed with the House of the Virgin Mary, but are not Catholic, so it doesn't have that religious draw for us. I can see how it would be very important if you are Catholic.

The city and especially the Grand Theater were very special, as we walked the same streets as the Apostle Paul and saw where he preached to the crowds from Acts 19.

We would highly recommend Elif's tour company for exploring Ephesus. Doing so with a small group is much better than trying to maneuver through a large tour group.
