“Mary,s House”

Brilliant , an unknown destination by most. it was good to see Pope Benedict had made a visit to this House. So it must be true, as why would the pope travel all the way from the vatican if it was not true

“O Come on. Really?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

This is the most expensive flim-flam in the entirety of Ionia. The house looks like a suburban bungalow in Van Nuys and is just as new. If an 80 year-old Mary had to walk down to town she'd die. She would never have walked UP. The whole thing is based on a "vision" by a peasant in Russia who had never been near the place. The best part of this is to watch the faces of the faithful as they slowly realize the depths to which they have been conned. Miss this. I wish I had.

“Sacred ground for everyone!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Our tour to ancient Ephesus included a stop at the Virgin Mary's House. Whether or not one is a "believer", this is historic and hallowed ground and is worth the visit. But if you are going to purchase a glass of Turkish coffee at the food stand, beware, you'd better enjoy drinking mud! I'll stick with Turkish tea....medium sweet!

“Wonderful experience”

I loved my visit to the House of the Virgin Mary outside of Ephesus. The whole region is beautiful, and the site of the house feels blessed and very peaceful.

“for the religious”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

Virgin Marys House is lovely. Its a beautiful area in Selcuk and its an nice sight to see. However I agree that its really an attraction that mainly religious individuals will truly appreciate. As its really just a small brick house with a few icons inside. The most beautiful part for me was the wall of wishes, which was a giant wall on which travellers from all around the world write down what they wish for in their lives and tie it on to the wall. The wall has thousands of notes its quite beautiful and emotional to see. Very nice place to visit.
