a bit of a climb and an entrance fee,but to see how others lived in ancient times is great.
Would not recommend for those with breathing problems or wheelchair requirements

I visted in May 2014, and the extra fee to visit the Terrace Houses was DEFINITELY worth it. I don't think there is anywhere else you can see such high quality paintings and mosaics. It's really neat to visit because they are still excavating, so you really feel like you're one of the first people to re-see the rooms and houses.

Definitely, definitely, recommend this.

Wow. These recently excavated houses are well worth a visit. The frescoes and mosaics are exquisite, and truly show what the upper class housing in Ephesus would have been like. The restoration project underway is staggering and as a History and Archaeology graduate I thoroughly enjoyed this site.

One caveat to this would be that I am afraid of heights and all the floors are glass so you don't walk on the mosaics and can fully view the site in 360 and as such at the top of the terraces, which are set into a steep embankment, you are walking over two storey buildings on a glass floor which is unnerving for those who struggle with heights.

Don't miss the Terrace Houses. They provide a window into life under the ancient Romans. It was very interesting seeing the workers trying to reconstruct mosaics one tile at a time.

I've been to many archeological sights but this should not be missed.A real peak into life for the privileged class. Indoor plumbing, mosaics, central heating all those centuries ago!
