We did not expect the most inviting hotel to be Hotel Nilya...it was decorated very nicely with Turkish ceramics, woodwork. The views from the patio are incredible. Our room had a very nice bathroom, beds comfortable. We really enjoyed the breakfast and
dinner. Hotel staff are very hospitable. Ephesus was only 5 km away.

This is a small hotel that is wonderously decorated. The walls in and out of the rooms are full of pretty ceramics and furniture. There's a flat screen TV over the fireplace but no TV in the room. The breakfast was quite good served in the reception. Fatima did a good job every morning, The small garden resembled the rest of the decor...meticulous

My friend and I stayed at Hotel Nilya in early February before we visited Ephesus. It was the perfect hotel to stay for a night or two and explore the area. We drove from Pamukkale and the hotel provided directions and suggested we stop in Aphrodisias on our way. We decided to take the slight detour and it was well worth the visit. Once we got to Selcuk it took us a minute to find the hotel, but overall the directions were excellent. The hotel is quaint, with a beautiful courtyard and traditional decorations.

Our room was small and clean, with very traditional decorations. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean with a nice shower. The service at the hotel was excellent, with everyone being incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a delicious traditional breakfast before we took the free shuttle to Ephesus. We finished a little ahead of the scheduled pick up time and we called the hotel and were picked up promptly. I think it was the co-owner who picked us up and he took us to pick up some Gozleme to go for the next part of our road trip.

My friend had a couple of rugs she had purchased in Bordum that she decided to ship home before we moved on. Their sister hotel, Bella, has a beautiful store (where I bought some pillow cases) and they helped my friend ship her rugs homes.

Overall, we had a great quick stay at the Hotel Nilya. It is a perfect location and hotel to explore Ephesus and the surrounding area.

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Nilya for a one day sojourn in Selcuk. The co-owner, Nazmi, was absolutely wonderful. He offered terrific suggestions for our day and drove us to Ephesus, the ruins of the Church of the Seven Sleepers, and the remains of the Temple of Artemis. He recommended a small restaurant specializing in Gozleme (essentially a type of Turkish crepe) for lunch, and this was probably the best meal of our trip. The hotel itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated with high quality Ottoman-style artwork. It is located on a side street in the village of Selcuk, about two blocks from the ruins of St. John's Basilica and the Isa Bey Mosque (both very interesting and worth seeing). The courtyard of the hotel is a real treat, with an old lemon tree adding a nice touch. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to and from Izmir airport, which was very convenient. Our driver, Ali, was very friendly and prompt. Nazmi also owns a small gallery a few blocks from the hotel, specializing in collectable Turkish art. The only conceivable point against this hotel is that there are no televisions in the room (although we certainly did not miss the t.v. - who wants to watch t.v. when you're in such beautiful surroundings). Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

It took our driver quite some time to find our hotel, tucked away from everything else. What a beautiful place. The hotel is completely decked out with all manner of turkish furniture, lamps, sconces and carpets. The towels in the room were the fluffiest we had on our Turkish trip. The hotel has a sister hotel down the road a little bit called hotel Bella which looked just as nice. Our room at Nilya, a twin room, was superb with lovely beds with super crisp white sheets and doonas. The bathroom was quite small but was adequate with toiletries supplied. It was on the first floor and was next door to a small suite with it's own seating area outside that we used too. Breakfast was a welcome change. The usual tea/coffee/ etc but a dish each of olives, tomatoes, cheese and a basket of bread. Eggs were as you like them and the omelettes were fantastic. We ate outside under the trees which was great. We had fabulous weather there. It did get very hot during the daytime, though, so you need to cover up. Nazmi, from Hotel Bella organised a guide for us for a day to Ephesus, called Mehmet. he was brilliant with a fabulous knowledge and we kept him going for about 5hrs. Dinner at the Hotel Bella was also excellent but if you don't eat a lot, don't have the set menu. The food was excellent, though and so was the service. Would highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay - fabulous hospitality ! If you want to visit esphesus and pamukkale - it's a good base and we were extremely grateful that the owner kindly drove us to a local restaurant with two tired children under 3! He even kindly helped us order.

We spent two full days/three nights in Selcuk in November to see Ephesus but ended up really enjoying Selcuk itself as well. Hotel Nilya and Hotel Bella are owned and operated by a family and it shows in how friendly and helpful the staff are. When we arrived the owner provided a great overview of the nearby places to visit (Ephesus, house of Mary, St Johns, the seven sleepers caves) and provided a short history/overview book to borrow for our visit. They provide a shuttle to Ephesus and, for a very reasonable fee, a trip to the house of Mary. (We were very glad they could provide a ride to the airport at a reasonable fee as well as we had an early flight!) Breakfast was delicious - try the fried eggs with Turkish spices! The room was small but very nice, the courtyard for breakfast was really lovely. Ask for a room on the second floor so you can get a nice view! We were here in the off-season so the hotel and town were very quiet. Highly recommend Hotel Nilya!
