“Very busy and not as good as it used to be”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

As more and more visitors flock to Ephesus the pleasure of a visit diminishes. What also seems to diminish is the accessibility of certain key parts of the site - such as the Marble way. Having said this, however, it's still one of the largest and best-preserved sites in Turkey and worth a visit if you've never been before. Personally, I prefer Didyma and Prienne.

“Perfect Place for Time-travel Back to the Grandeur of Rome”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

It is one of the most important cities of the Roman Empire. Second biggest city after Rome. There are two entrance gates about a mile apart. Upper and lower. I recommend you take the upper and walk down. You can rent an audio guide or hire a private guide at the gate. This walking adventure will take you 2 -4 hours to complete. WC and snacks stands at each entrance. Bring comfortable walking shoes. I did not. Sandals was a mistake. The uneven cobblestones and decline, sometimes steep of the walkway made it difficult to stroll. In fact, a friend of mine who wore sneakers, fell. Avoid going if it rains. The cobblestones will be slippery. There is very little shade. The hot sun reflects off the marble and makes it very uncomfortable. Wear sunscreen, bring a walking umbrella, hat, and finally bring plenty of water. Do not drink the Turkish tap water. Happy travels!

“Neat place even the second time around”
Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

This was my second visit and it did not disappoint. There had been more excavation since my first visit 10 years ago. Don't expect Pompeii but do expect rich history and fairy well preserved ruins.

“What amazing history”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

One of the most visited attractions in Turkey so it doesn't need to be sold. Make sure you read up on the history before you visit. The signage is great so there is no need to buy a book or take a guide..... Although these will help if you do not know the history. Take your time and plenty of water
