This is how a local described Hotel Bella and I couldn't agree more. The hotel, including the rooms are very elegantly decorated with beautiful ceramics and rugs. The location, service and quality of the hotel is excellent. The cleaning staff even shapes the clean towels into different animals- think origami with towels. An unusual, but thoughtful touch). Very close to train station (5 minutes down the street), which is perfect for getting to and from Izmir airport. The hotel provides free shuttles to Ephesus, House of the Virgin Mary, Şirince, and will also drop you off other locations nearby if you ask. The rooms are more than sufficient for two people and there is a small (very small) balcony. The breakfast is very good (includes eggs) and is served on a roof terrace with great views of the city and St John's Basilica. The hotel also arranged for a Pamukkale tour. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. However, the hotel does have a shop selling amazing ceramics and rugs. There is an expectation that you will spend 20 minutes or so in the shop getting the carpet spiel from the owner. We found it a little strange at first, but it turned out to be a nice opportunity to learn about carpets in a more relaxed environment. We learned about the different regions where carpets came from, some of the symbolism and how they are made, they owner appeared very knowledgeable, especially regarding his region. Once we got the spiel, we could pop into the shop whenever we please and browse around without hassle, which was great. (Full disclosure we did purchase one).

I would also recommend that people take an extra day or two in Selcuk. It is a very nice town with good restaurants and is not too bustling.

We were completely charmed by Hotel Bella. The interior is over-the-top beautiful. The owner has decorated every inch of the place with gorgeous Turkish crafts, from textiles to ceramics. The rooms are quite small and the bathrooms are even smaller, but nothing seems to detract from the overall experience of the hotel. The owner is very attentive. He sat down with us upon our arrival and helped us plan our visit. He sent us off with a driver to several places we never would have gone and which were well worth our time. He also helped arrange a guide (Mehmet) to Ephesus who could not have been better. The roof-top restaurant is terrific for lunch and dinner and the breakfasts are fabulous. The owner's shop on the premises is a absolutely worth a visit. It is stocked with very high quality goods at reasonable prices. It's hard to imagine finding a better hotel for the money---or at all.

We chose this cute boutique hotel from the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and it certainly lived up to our high expectations. Hotel Bella is a fine example of Turkish hospitality. It's a family run business, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and offer great advice on the local attractions. The hotel itself is in a very central location, a few minutes walk from the town centre, shops and restaurants. However, we didn't get to eat in any local restaurants, as after our first night dining in-house, at the rooftop restaurant, we decided we just had to come back for more. The rooms are beautifully furnished in ottoman style, as is the entire hotel, with beautiful displays of rugs, antiques and ceramics, which are also sold in the shop downstairs. The personalised service included driving us to and from local sites, providing a guidebook for Ephesus, helping plan our itinerary whilst in Selcuk and arranging our onward transportation to our next destination. Look no further - this is a fabulous place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms are small but cosy!

Pros
- Close to stores and restaurants, but also a bit apart from town (we loved Selcuk for its small-town, Turkish nature)
- They provide a free shuttle to and from Ephesus
- Reasonable rates
Cons
- Our room was small, without a safe or bar fridge
- Some staff were friendly, but others were not, especially at breakfast
Summary: The hotel was okay, and the staff seemed friendly at the front desk, until you realized the not-so-subtle expectation that you should spend more money at the hotel, e.g. dinner, tours, rugs, etc. This expectation completely soured our opinion of the hotel and made us quite uncomfortable, such that we cannot recommend it to others.

Located only 2kms from Ephesus, this quaint hotel is a perfect place to stay. It oozes personality and charm. The walls and rooms are adorned with Turkish rugs, ceramics and antiques. The rooms are small but very clean. On arrival we were met by the owner and given a welcome drink and an explanation of the many things they could do for us - including a lift to Ephesus . This is the place to stay if you want to see the most beautiful Turkish ceramics, rugs etc- a shop is attached the hotel and it is exquisite. The local tortoise and stork's nests were also a highlight!!

My husband and I stayed in Hotel Bella for two nights while we checked out Ephesus. The hotel is small, as are the rooms, but it is thoroughly charming. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms well appointed. We had a small balcony overlooking the ruins across the street. The rooftop terrace was a great place to enjoy a meal with a view. Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed overnight, arriving about 2 pm and managed to see Ephesus, St. John's Church and the house of Mary before leaving the following morning.
The staff were very helpful and the food on the terrace at night was delicious. Breakfast was a plate of fruit each and then eggs done to our liking.
