“Friendly, family-run hotel”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

The hotel Nazar is really a great choice for accommodation in the town of Selcuk (close to Ephesus). The rooms are bright and clean, simple but comfortable. The owner, Ilkir, his wife and family run the hotel together and they are all super pleasant, warm and helpful. They really go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and taken care off. We had a great stay.

IlKer Sen the owner is a wonderful and helpful person. He speaks good english and is very helpful on planning our trips. He drove to pick us up from the Busport and also to drop us at the train station in his personal car. The property is cosy, family managed and clean. The rooms are really well appointed and cosy. The hotel is just off the main road and away from the noise of the streets but yet a stone throw's distance from the heart of the city. What we loved was that whenever we mentioned this hotel to people in the town, the locals' faces used to light up and they would say something like "oh yeah IlKER.... pass my Salaam to him". Everyone seems to like this person!!!

My boyfriend and I have been backpacking in Turkey and this was our one night of luxury. I believe it was worth every dollar and more. The room had air conditioning and an impeccable bathroom. The pool is even better than the photos and a neccesity after visiting hot Ephesus. The owner is friendly and helpful. Not at all insensitive ;). He speaks fluent English. His father also dropped us off at the shuttle stop for our Atlas jet flight. We were unable to get a chance to try their food unfortunately. Maybe we'll just have to come back! It is a 5min walk from the bus station and in a nice little back street where you see locals going about their life. I usually like to have a negative point to give other travellers detailed information but I truly cannot think of anything. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

I read through the comments, both good and bad, before we booked and didn’t recognise the place from some of the negative feedback. Don’t be put off. This is a great family-owned-and-run hotel with all that we required. Our room was clean and airy, the pool and terrace was a welcome sight after a busy day visiting the many sites of antiquity found in the local area. Ilker and Selma are lovely hosts and extremely knowledgeable. They were able and offer fantastic advice, always prepared to go the extra mile, to ensure that we could make the most of our stay. We have no reservations in recommending Hotel Nazar.

This hotel is a great choice. Good accommodations reasonably priced and outstanding service.
After 5 wonderful days in Istanbul we set out for a 3 night stay in Selcuk as our home base for touring. The tours were very good and easily arranged through the hotel but what stands out most in our mind are the owners Ilker and Selma who made certain that our stay would be memorable.
The hotel is well appointed and very warm and welcoming. The lovely courtyard with pool is a great place to relax and have a cool drink. The evening meal which is available at a very reasonable cost (E10) and served in the rooftop terrace is home-cooked, delicious and allows guests to get a taste of real local Turkish cuisine.
Each day when we returned to the hotel after a busy day of touring, it was like coming home. Sometimes it is the small things like a nicely presented plate of fruit when we ordered wine that really makes the difference between good and great.

Ilker was wonderfully accommodating of our needs even when this extended to Istanbul where he was able to help us the following week.

We had a wonderful stay and plan to return soon. We very highly recommend Hotel Nazar.

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Nazar where we stayed for 4 nights. Everything about it was good. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious - the photographs on the hotel's website do not do the room justice. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the terrace and pool.
Pool was very welcoming after a day sight seeing.
Breakfast was served on the roof terrace and was plentiful and good. We ate dinner in the hotel on two evenings - excellent home cooked food and great wine from Pamukkale. We ate in a local restaurant on the other two evenings (also very good).
Ilker and his family offered us a level of service which went far beyond expectations. Nothing was too much trouble - he even drove us to Siringe (closeby village) and took us to a restaurant we would never have found by ourselves - restaurant was excellent.
All told we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Selcuk and can highly recommend the Hotel Nazar.

Only one night but was a comfortable one. The rooms are fairly sparse in terms of decor, the bathrooms were good. The hotel was beautifully decorated with rugs and wall hangings and the pool area was very attractive. The owner was very helpful and an interesting person with excellent English. The location was central in Selcuk, walking distance to the fort and restaurants. Some posts have made remarks about the quality of the neighbourhood- it is absolutely fine and is a residential area of Selcuk, not sinister at all. We managed to leave the boot of our car open (by accident) for some time with no problems! We ate out but in retrospect should have stayed in.
