“Perfect place to visit Ephesus”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Stayed two nights in July 2014.
Excellent place -- good rooms with reasonable price. Roof terrace with breathtaking wiev to Selcuk. Ideal for breakfast and also just sitting area at the other time of day.
Very friendly staff.
Close to railway station -- just across the railway via pedestrian bridge and continue directly by Inönü street until you will see the hotel at right. It takes about 10 minutes or less.

Great place, great people, great location with wonderful views across the town from the terrace cafe (especially the sunsets). I loved staying here for two nights, 7 minutes walk from the town centre. Ate dinner here too, including homegrown figs, drank beer and raki on the rooftop and the breakfasts were good. Would love to come back here again one day soon.

A 2 Star hotel with 5 star hospitality. Ecksan the owner is very personable and gave us a warm welcome when we rocked up without a reservation. Rooms were basic, well priced, clean, comfortable and secure.
Also Selcuk gets hot and this is perfectly placed on the hill to get the breeze. Lovely terrace with great views and delicious dinners.

We are two weeks through a month long trip and this is the best place we've stayed.
The owner is very kind and friendly. He genuinely wants to help you feel at home (as opposd to being helpful in a strictly professional sense).
The view from the terrace is amazing. You can watch the sun set over the mountains and castle.
The rooms are humble. There is no partition or shower curtain so unless you're very careful water will get everywhere (we joked about being able to save time in the morning by showering sitting down if you get my drift), but we have encountered the same arrangement 3 times now.
The only real con would be that the bed is quite hard.
As others have mentioned it is up a hill, but it's not very steep or far. When we first arrived at the ottogar a guy at the metro bus co desk phoned the hotel and they came and picked us up (no charge).
The owner lives there and his family close by so there were three generations spending time together which was lovely.
The breakfast is a buffet of salads cheese egg and bread and a vegetarian dinner was prepared for us at our request. There was no menu, but this actually made it feel special in that they had put in a special effort for us.
If you expect absolute comfort this may not be the place for you, but if you want to feel at home and genuinely welcome you couldn't do better.

We loved our three day stay at Rilican. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace was a delicious buffet. The staff were helpful and friendly. The real highlight however was relaxing, watching the sun go down from the roof terrace with a bottle of red wine. A number of reviews mention an uphill walk to this hotel as a downside. The walk is a gentle slope of no more that 5 - 6 minutes and the slight incline allows for those amazing views over the town to the castle. Excellent value for money and highly recommeded.

My partner and I stayed here together with his mother for two nights. We live in Istanbul and were visiting Ephesus and the surrounding area. This is really a lovely place with wonderful owners, a stunning view and great homey atmosphere. The rooms are very clean and well air conditioned and the hotel is a convenient walk from the center of town (although it is on a hill, and is not easily accesible for disabled travellers). We felt very welcome and well taken care of and would definitely stay here again!

I am actually surprised to see the recent negative reviews on trip advisor, especially about the breakfast, which is an excellent traditional Turkish breakfast with fresh vegetables and olives from the owner's own garden. What more could you want? :) The shower is not enclosed, as other reviewers have mentioned, but this is really standard for Turkish bathrooms. If you are looking for a slice of real Turkey and Turkish hospitality, not just a slick 5 star hotel experience interchangeable with any other, this is a wonderful hidden gem.

Teşekkür ederim Rilican team! :)
