After taking the #21 bus from Jerusalem, we found ourselves a ways from the Church of the Nativity, so accepted an offer of a cab and guide in one. It was a great decision because Aljaran knew all the ins and outs, and most importantly, after visiting the Milk Grotto, he suggested we visit the Blessings Gift Shop directly next door.

Bassem welcomed us heartily and gave us a tour of the shop, while Aljaran lead us to the rooftop patio. At about the highest point in the area, we had an unobstructed view of the entire surroundings including the Shepard's fields, with all four directions annotated with a enlarged photos detailed what you were looking at.

Back down in the shop, we were truly impressed with the vast qnatity and terrific quality of all the items for sales. A third generation craftsman/small business owner, Bassem proudly pointed out many unique items and demonstrated the difference between inferior, Chinese-made products and his. We were so pleased to purchase a few items for Christmas knowing that we will sherish these works of art knowing they came from Bethlehem and from such a kind and passionate family.

We highly recommend anybody visiting the Milk Grotto to cross the street and visit this great shop!

As stated in many reviews, Mr Giacaman speaks fluent English so no issues there. We purchased some Olive Wood products but found that they caused our food to have a bitter taste. Not sure if it was the wood or processing. We have seen several products here in Europe that do not have the same smell or taste issues so not sure what is causing the problem. We visited the shop with our hired taxi drivers, who I am sure receive a kickback for the purchases. Research what you want to purchase prior to stopping here and negotiate accordingly.

I read about the Blessings Gift Shop on TA and made sure I looked in as it is literally just around the corner from the Church of The Nativity in Bethlehem. So glad I did. The lovely family that own this shop are wonderful. The young man Bassem Giacaman speaks excellent English. His father and grandfather can be seen making the most excellent Olive Wood articles to a very high quality finish. These were easily much cheaper and of better quality than I had found elsewhere. Not everything is wooden, I found some Holy medals to take home as gifts and bought about 30 ! Lots of choice in other mementos as well. The Milk Grotto is right next to the Shop so ask for that and you will find the shop. They have a roof terrace and welcome you to use it to view the surroundings and take a photo or two. Also discount on what you buy is readily given without you having to ask ! Well worth a visit.

This excellent gift shop and factory has a great selection of carved wood souvenirs. The owner Mr. Giacaman (who speaks excellent English) and his wife are excellent hosts. They will give you a tour of the factory and explain how they make their souvenirs and how you can detect imitations. They are also great with questions you may have about the holy sites. I highly recommend their excellent store and products.
