My sister and I are constant returnees to this fabulous hotel. We usually spend a month here, but this year we decided to come for five weeks, January 3 through February 7, 2013. The housekeeping service is really terrific. It's a real professional staff. Not only are they fast and efficient, but courteous as well. Any requests we made were immediately fulfilled. Example: We asked for non-feather pillows and they arrived within minutes. We found the dining room staff to be equally efficient and courteous. Also, we told the chef that we would like no-salt added dinners. He was so pleased to accommodate us - over and above what was expected. The breakfasts, too, are fabulous. No problem if you're on a salt restricted diet. What also pleased us was the sight-impaired piano player in the lobby several times a week. And as for the location of the hotel: it couldn't be better. It's a beachfront hotel, it's an easy walk to the Mall, it's only steps away from the Tourist Information Bureau where you can borrow as many books as you want - in many languages! All in all, the Leonardo Plaza Hotel Eilat made for a great five week getaway.

2 weeks ago we stayed in the hotel. we got an amazing sweate, with everything we needed and extras like, a big jacuzzi, 2 balconies, fruit wine and so on.
Mercedes was responsible for the exras, and although she wasn't in the hotel itself, it's not the first time she did this gesture for us. everytime we come we feel so welcome,, and no doubt it won't be our last visit in this hotel.
we are very grateful to the hotel's staff, especially mercedes.
the Nesher/ segalovich families.

Room Tip: the suites are large and amazing......

I had originally booked at the U Coral Beach Hotel All-inclusive plus. Because of renovations we were given the Leonardo Plaza as an alternative. It is right in the centre of Eilat and perfectly placed on the boulevard.

Reception: Checking in and checking out went very smoothly. The staff at reception were very friendly and Rotem & Daniel did their best to make sure that our holiday was as enjoyable as possible.

Packages: You can choose between bed & breakfast, half board & all-inclusive, however, most travel agents do not offer the all-inclusive package.
All-inclusive = breakfast, lunch and dinner all in buffet form, free coffee, tea, local beer & local wine, iced coffee, ice cream, biscuits & nachos from either the lobby bar or the pool-side bar. All sports are extra.

Rooms: There are many different types of rooms so ask to see the room before you actually accept it. We were given a room on the 6th floor but there was no balcony. We were then moved to a much smaller room with a balcony and 2 days later they offered us a bigger room with a balcony but the view was not as good so we chose to stay in the smaller room. Bathrooms were adequate but nothing special. Beds were made up every day and there was no shortage of towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel & body lotion. There is a hairdryer, which could be up-dated in the bathroom, a safe in the cupboard, a fridge and television with plenty of films to see in English. The balcony was small but the ideal place to sunbathe out of the wind. We just happened to be there in the coldest week in 25 years (14 - 19 degrees). The second week was more pleasant with temperatures reaching 27 degrees.

Hotel: Definitely not a 5* hotel but very good all the same. There are also a few shops on hand but very expensive. I went to the hairdressers to have my hair cut and coloured, it cost me €160 which is ridiculous. Had I known before hand I would not have gone there, a haircut costs €50!!!

Sport: There is a pool table inside and 2 table-tennis tables outside. Most of which were occupied most of the day. There is also a games room and 2 swimming pools, one of which was closed for the winter season. There is also a spa and gym available but you had to pay 30 shekels a day (6 euros), massages were extra. There were also 2 computers in the lobby which cost 2 euros for 20 minutes. If you have your own computer with you you can get a password for 24 hours for €16/day or €70/week.
There is also the possibility to watersports such as a boat trip, parasailing, banana boat rides, snorkelling & diving but I found the prices very expensive. Shop around!

Entertainment: There is entertainment every evening with a singer in the lobby and other shows in one of the halls, normally starting around 9:15pm. Some were very entertaining.

Restaurant: Breakfast is served between 7am and 10:30am (Saturday 11am). The food is ample and very varied. You can eat enough at breakfast to satisfy you until the evening. Omelettes and fried eggs are made for you on the spot and there are plenty of yoghurts, cheese, cereals, bread, salads and hot dishes as well. You have a choice of instant coffee from a machine or to stand in line to get a cappuchino or latte (both the same in this hotel).

Lunch is served between 12:00pm & 2:30pm and consists 2 types of soup, plenty of hot meat & fish dishes and lots of salads. Again there is plenty to choose from. Deserts are small cakes or ice-cream.

Dinner is served between 6:30pm & 9pm. When it is really busy they serve in 2 shifts, second shift beginning at 8pm, Dinner is very similar to lunch and there is more than enough to choose from.

One of the dining room managers Alin was especially helpful. My only criticism would be that if you arrive late for any of the meals then there was always a cup, glass or cutlery missing from the table and sometimes it took quite a while to get a replacement.

Beach: The small beach is just a few steps away from the hotel. Towels and beach loungers are free of charge. Towels are taken from the pool area. Best to get there early or there are no places to put your chair. The sea was very pleasant, even in the middle of winter and one thing that really impressed me was the attention of the lifeguards. If they saw a child alone in the water they would make an announcement to make sure that the parent was keeping an eye on them. Very reassuring.

Trips: There is always someone on hand to organize your trips for you. Whether you wish to visit Petra in Jordan, take a camel trip, a jeep safari, visit the underwater observatory, swim with the dolphins or rent a car, whatever you need they are willing to help. You can shop around but you will find that the prices are very much the same wherever you book.

Eilat: An oasis in the desert. Eilat borders Egypt and Jordon but I didn't notice any trouble and very few soldiers. Shops are in abundance and there are plenty of shopping malls, one which includes a skating rink which must be heaven in the heat of the summer. There are 2 cinemas, a small cinema inside a small shopping centre where you can see up-to-date films, also in 3D and an IMAX cinema which shows mainly 3D special films. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants, including an absolute gem called PASTORY - just round the corner - an authentic Italian restaurant with the most delicious of menus. No need to find other restaurants, once you've been here you'll want to go again and again.

To conclude, if you are looking for a relaxing or cultural holiday you can have one or the other or both and if you're looking for some winter sun then this is the place to be. Only 4½ hours flight from London but a world of difference. I'm already planning to go again next year!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 4th or 5th floors with a view onto Jordon & the Red Sea. This view is the...

We know this Hotel since it was named Sheraton Moriah and we loved it. We continuosly return to it each year when we visit Eilat ,although not as brilliant as when we visited it first time. It certainly needs revamping, redecorating. Still the spot where it stands is the best!!! right in the middle of the Eilat shore next to the old Canyon and not at all far of any new one. It displays a nice well kept own shore with clear nice water. The pool far from being kept warm in end of December, was not our favorite spot, but the Sun deck and the zaccuji Yessssss! We visited it every day during the week of our last visit 23-30/12/12. Breakfast was rich and very good for all kind of taste lovers I suppose. All kind of cheases, olives, fish, eggs, omelettes fruits dry and fresh,Juices not the best, but doesn't matter since oranges fresh ones were there along honey melons. Dinner is equaly rich and abondance of all kind of salads and pizzas. Personel is friendly ,rooms, sheets, towells are clean.
Now if some walls need painting is that really so capital? mmmmm maybe yes, somewhere the chain holder has to find time and money for this detail too,but we certainly do not abandon our darling hotel and surroundings, whenever we visit our darling Eilat.

Room Tip: As higher,as better.
