5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

we came to this hotel two weeks ago
the hotel was full but you could berlly feel that
the service here is the best from all the hotel ive been to in israel
i hayly recommend
but if you buy a vacation here you have to take the club rooms! they give you an entrance for the spa and the lounge

Room Tip: buy the club room

If there is a great place to have a relaxing vacation, its in Eilat. But its not enough , as most of the time you are actually in the hotel, we are expecting to enjoy the all facilities offered in the hotel . We have had a fantastic vacation, clean rooms, extra ordinary service, tasty food, great pool and just a nice atmosphere. Im certain our next vacation in Eilat would be in Herrods.

My husband and I stayed at Herods palace for 4 nights a few days ago. We had booked an “executive” room at the club level (10th floor).

Basically, I had always liked the way the hotel looks from the outside so I wanted to give it a try. It’s not a bad hotel, but we will not stay there again. There wasn’t any big flaw but several details that all together really bother you, especially for a hotel of this class.

First, it’s important to underline that the staff of the hotel is nice and smiling so, at least, this is very enjoyable because it’s really not the case in all hotels! The first impression was given to us at the reception for the check-in, with Ron, who was very nice and had a big smile.

Then we went up, the elevators look great because all the 4 of them have a big window so you can see the view while going up or down, very nice.

The bedroom: a bit disappointed. It was nice but not great (except the bed). The floor is covered with parquet floor and it should definitely have been a carpet instead, to make the room more exclusive and cozy. And as usual in 99% of the hotels, not enough light!

The bathroom was good, not the best. But my husband liked it a lot for some reason so it’s about each one’s taste. The balcony is small, not tiny but not big enough.

There should have been a few stuff upon arrival in the room but there weren’t: no bathrobes, no slippers (which both should have been provided because of the room type we chose), no coffee, not even soap bars! So we called to ask for it and someone brought all of them to us in the next half hour. Then, they called to ask us if we did receive the items that we called for, which was nice, it shows they care and make a follow up on their guests requirements.

The elevators: big big big problem!! Especially in the weekend when the hotel is full. Either one or two of the elevators are not working, or there is the Shabbat elevator (cannot be skipped but at least make sure that all the other three work properly). And you cannot even use the stairs instead, because first, it looks awful, seriously, it’s like a bunker without paint, without anything, the stairs are just pieces of concrete and a rail, very dangerous. Plus there is all the time an unbearable smell, you cannot stay there more than 5 seconds!! Same smell in the parking lot, by the way. Where does it come from? If one wants to go out to the parking, one just gets lost in a labyrinth of concrete and bad smell that makes you think that it’s just an emergency exit that no one uses because it cannot be that they let guests use these paths to go out!! Really, they need painting at least, perfume and signs!

Then, the restaurant: Luckily, since we were staying in an executive room type, we could have our breakfast in a different and separate restaurant called Tamarind. Same (good) food than in the regular restaurant but not a lot of people there and very quiet. Which is really a luxury considering you do NOT want to be sharing a breakfast room with some wild people like there always are… plus you get a waitress to bring you coffee and omelet instead of getting them by yourself.

The beach: very good during the week but absolutely not in the weekend, it was a true nightmare. First, it gets crowded like crazy and several small groups of people just bring their ENORMOUS loud speaker and put their horrible techno-oriental music insanely loud, you cannot even stay there for 10 seconds. And there are like 10 groups of people like that, separated by a distance of a few meters, which means you have to go to another beach, far away not to hear the music even remotely. And no one says anything about it. Seriously, I have never seen anything like that. And how come it’s only on herods palace beach?? You go to the Dan beach, a few meters away and already you hardly have people like that. We went and talked to the reception about it and they said that there is nothing they can do. Just unbelievable. Where I come from, there is something called disturbance of the peace, which apparently no one cares about here. I was in shock!

Altogether, in the weekend, the hotel occupation becomes horrible, both in quantity and quality of the people. You do not want to be there in the weekends! Run away!!

Then, the next Monday (after the crazy weekend), you go to the (now quiet) beach and you move sun beds to put them closer to the water (not IN the water but 5 meters from the water) and someone comes and tell you that it’s forbidden and makes a fuss about it that you cannot put the beds there and doesn’t let go till you move backwards. Helloooooo?!! When non educated people come on Saturday and make a hell out of this beach with their crazy music it’s ok, but when I move my bed closer to the water (what on earth can be the problem with that?!) they don’t let go and it’s like the worst thing you could do. Sorry but I cannot understand!

Finally, the access door between the beach and the pool stays open only until 8 pm. So, after that, you have to go through the entrance of the hotel, even though you come from the back side. Why? Just leave someone there at the door, it’s fine, they do it at Dan nextdoor and it’s ok, people like that they can come from the back at any time, it’s a great service!

This hotel could be great but a certain type of customers that come there (and who apparently get to do all they want with no limits) together with some breaches / budget cuts (??) make it a place I won’t stay at anymore. חבל

Stayed at Herods Palace Eilat for one night first week of June. Nice hotel. Very good service. But the hotel is starting to showing it's age. Rooms, lobby, all facilities are looking run down. The rooms definitely need to be renovated. The service was great. We had an issue with our AC. It was fixed within 10 minutes. The staff is friendly and helpful. Perfect location. Right on the beach. Walking distance to everything you need in Eilat. Probably won't stay here again. IMO Haroids Palace does not meet 5* category but worth it for it's value.

The initial sighting of the hotel is quite impressive. I am not sure what rooms are pictured on the site, our room did not look anything like the ones shown. The hotel has a beautiful lobby, spectacular views of the Red Sea from the rooms and a gorgeous pool area. However, the furniture in our room and in the lobby area was a bit worn. The buffet meals offered a wide variety of foods with some variation during our stay. The businesses along the promenade were mostly vacant and not well kept. There seemed to be trash left around the common areas of the hotel with few waste receptacles. We were there during a holiday so there were a lot of children as this is a popular spot so take the noise and activity associated into consideration. The bellmen were the most helpful, particularly Amir.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the central area where the elevators are located to avoid associated noise.
