Royal Beach by Isrotel Exclusive Collection
Ranked #18 of 61 Hotels in Eilat

Based on the previous reviews I didn't expect much, but our room was large and had a great view. We had a standard room, but on the 9th floor. The hotel is large and modern. The bellmen/concierge were very responsive and helpful. The front desk could have been friendlier, but they were efficient. The spa is small, but clean. The hotels only hot tub/Jacuzzi style tub is located here. The buffet breakfasts were great. On Saturday, instead of an omelet station, they have a fruit station where a staffer slices up the most beautiful selection of fruits to your specifications. Also, on the Saturday buffet they offer Jachnun. This is the first time I ever had this treat. See this site for more details: http://everything2.com/title/Jachnun. The hotel is located on the beach. Unfortunately, even in June, the Red Sea is cold. Luckily, the pool at the hotel is lovely. This hotel seems to be a weekend retreat for many of the locals; the chaises fill up fast. We had no problem finding two together, but couldn't land one of those cool outdoor beds with the wedge pillows. The poolside dining was very reasonable. The Promenade along the beach offers an easy walk to many nice and busy restaurants. The hotel is also located in what feels like an Isrotel village. There's a different Isrotel any way you turn! There were just a few negatives: you can hear the musicians playing on the promenade in your room in the evening (luckily, we liked what they played and they didn't play all night); the workout room is small and limited; they offered the worst exchange rate compared to the hotels we stayed at in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Hotel was great. The pool and the beach were incredible. Checking in was fast and warm. Room clean and the furniture just what we have expected.
Breakfast & diner were included in the package. It’s where the nightmare began. Have to admit the food and the selection was great. But the service was awful. We had to chase a waiter all over the hall to get water. It took him seven minutes to bring it. We complained but next time service was as bad. Besides having bad service the restaurant doesn’t serve hot drinks at diner time. You will be having cake with cold water. If I ever stay at this hotel again, I will never use their restaurant.

I checked out reviews on Tripadvisor before going to hotel and got caucious about the responsiveness of staff. On all occassions that I contacted the staff, I did not experience any problems at all, everyone was very helpful.

We stayed at Eilat for 4 nights in end December.
+ Great food, good choice. During Shabat breakfast was very different - the usage of electricity is minimized, so getting hot water was not possible, ony warm.
+ Good service
+ Good room
+ Great location
-Weather is too cold for doing a lot of swimming, only mid-day when the sun is high
- A bit further in the water we got some bites from something in the water. Haven't really figured out what it was. Not dangerous, more unpleasant.

- Oceanarium was very interesting. Worth spending half a day.
- I drank a lot of freshly-squezzed juices.
- Definitely take a trip to Petra in Jordan. Totally worth it (unless you plan a separate visit to Jordan). Due to a lot of walking, you may get tired by the evening. From the excursion - I loved Israel's guide advices on the border. All of them - true. :)
- Do not go to Jerusalem on 1 day excursion. You get exausted on travelling some 4,5 hours on a bus one way. Don't manage to get the right feeling of a great city.

Perhaps some other hotels can be more value for money. Adding a few photos of what I saw from my room and also the hotel's view from the beach

We stayed here for a week, why? because someone who had stayed here a few years ago said it was a great hotel with excellent staff..........well how times have changed the staff!
The hotel itself is without doubt a very nice hotel, it has some faults, such as obvious wear and tear and a bit grubby here and there but the biggest fault by far is the staff, not all of them, just those who are meant to be managing and organising the hotel.
Checking in (27Th Aug) was not as straight forward as one would expect, in fact it was as if we were not expected!
Trying to get information and advice from managers was like trying to get blood from a stone, they weren't so much as laid back but more of a 'couldn't care less' attitude. and were directing us to ask someone else, (who we had already asked!) The next evening we went to a pub called the 3 monkeys and thought that we had wandered into some surreal east-end pub...the band (HA!) were drunk and some guy in the band wearing a fishing hat, was shouting foul and abusive language at someone in the audience because they were smoking. this was ignored by, who i later found out to be the entertainment manager, but a lot of the audience were more than a bit shocked by it!
We spent a couple of days mooching around and going out to explore the shops etc and spend time at the pool and tried the gym.
The food was bordering on excellent, honestly, is was good!
On the Tuesday we went back to the 3 monkeys at about 11.30pm and another band was playing, (A young band from west London), and it was a relief to see some proper musicians playing songs that everyone knew ,and they had the place rocking, we stayed until a disco started which was by then, quite late, then we headed off to our room, only to find that we couldn't get in, the guy on the desk/reception said it was a problem with the electronics and we should try again a little later.......a little later? it was getting on for 3am.
i can see how this place is a 5 star but it needs the staff and commitment from the staff to keep it that way, so many people were having problems but no one seemed that interested in helping to solve them, at best the staff seemed to be amateurish and lacking in social skills.
This hotel needs shaking up and getting someone in to turn it around, i am expecting to return later this year or early next year with the person who recommended it to us........I'm not to sure I'll go here again, but i hear the other hotels are better in the staff dept, so maybe we will give one of them a try!

If you would like a relaxing holiday free from problems in a 5 star hotel, the Royal Beach is NOT for you, I have just completed a 10 day stay, it has been an absolute nightmare!

The previous poster said that you have to fight for everything and they are right, when you do argue with any of the staff be it a waiter/waitress, or any manager they will agree with you, but yet they will do nothing to rectify the problem!

according to the management, that is what they cater to, and they made it quite clear, that if you're not a thief or a person with underhanded intentions, they don't really know what to do with you.................After a plethora of problems (four hour wait for check in to a royal suite, where we only arrived at the hotel at 17:30....no ammends whatsoever made, nothing offered...just lots of I'm sorry's....we finally recieved our suite (for which we paid the price to the penny) at close to ten at night.......nothing offered, and quite the opposite, I began to feel guilty and uncomfortable.......we actually had to threaten to leave to actually get the room......the room was lovely...but beware, you must take a suite, all the other rooms they try to pawn off on you "royal, president, bellavista"...it's ALL the same...and ALL the same size....ie small!! Breakfast.....we call down at 7:30 for b'fast...there's no room service really, it kind of starts at 8, they'll get back to you...so after making a royal fuss, I finally got my b'fast delivered to the room...ditto for the next day....you must fight for everything....the next morning we decided to go down and were politely informed that b'fast starts at a quarter to eight....what kind of an hour is that for b'fast????? When we finally do get our b'fast, the coffee machine isn't working...more sorry sorry sorry...and I am thinking this hotel is soooooo grossly mismanaged, it's not funny...check out..... we go to check out...the girl can't check us out until they make an inspection of the minibar.......I told them, I never used it the whole stay, but they don't believe you, spend 750 dollars a night and I'm going to steal a cola...for God's sake, that's just insulting....and their answer...sorry, we cater to the lowest common denominator in Israel...................so traveller beware, and whatever you do, if you come here, be prepared to fight for everything...even a towel at the pool.......................
