“A Nice place to stay”
Reviewed 18 September 2008

Positive:
1. As usual to an Israeli hotel, you will not find a richer more variant breakfast anywhere in the world.
2. Rooms are better than average
3. Rooms are cleaner than average
4. Hotel pool is great, it is practically the theme of the hotel
5. Service is average.

Negative:
1. Located far away from the beach promenade, which is the main place to visit.
2. Although it seems that the hotel is suitable for families with babies; it is actually not, if you have a baby with a stroller, don't book this hotel. The same can be said for accessibility for the handicapped.
3. Many of the rooms are located far way from the hotel entrance.
4. Pool restaurant/bar food quality is very poor.
5. Pool services are very slow and poor.

we stayed for only 2 nights for budget reasons, but this hotel is probably one of the best we've been too and definitley the best in eilat for it's price range.
a nice warm welcome with juice and water for the people waiting in line to check in (took only a couple of minutes) the room was large and nice view from the second (top) floor.
breakfast was AMAZING! served for long hours, you can come in for the morning coffee at 8, return at 10 for breakfast and have another quick coffee at 11:30... all as part of the hotel's "relax" theme. the pool area is large and well organized - plenty of seats and big swing chairs.
only cons - the pool is deceptivley low - a meter depth at best - it doesn't say that anyhere. there's no room-service to the second floor as the only room service is for the rooms on the water where the waiter comes in through the pool...
and it's a little far from the beach/boardwalk - but no more than a 10 minute walk.

all in all definitley recommended for people in need of relaxation, good food and plenty of fun :)

I have been in many hotels. But this was an excellent hotel for Israel standards.

Pros: A - Great for kids. 1 - kids pool. 2 - kids room, 3-Food for infants.
B - Great service. Very nice waiter and waiters.
C - Good food. No lobster or steak but there was lot of salads, vegetable, pasta, chicken and variety.
D - Clean room . Very hot in the summer.
E - Great pool ( we used to go at night at lie down on the bed next to pool and play with kids until 10 pm)
F - Break fast is free.
G - Great great pool.
H - The first floor room are amazing the room open ups to the pool. personal access to pool from back of room.
I - Wifi access in hotel. it is 40$ for 120 min of dis-continues internet. expensive for israel standard. i make phone call on that internet connections.
J - You have access to go any other Isotel hotel in Eilat.

Const:
A - This is not Bahaman or Mexico. Things are different in Israel than cosmel. The Israel are not service minded. No one is going to ask you if you enjoy your food. But if you want some thing they will get it for you.
B - dinner are expensive. 35$ per person per night. by 6 and get 2 free.
C - lot of people (guest) with attitude.
D - it is 4 start hotel.
E - Worst taxi drivers in the world. They rip you off every seconds. Negotiate before you get in the taxi.
F - Far from ocean. Actual ocean is not great. Is not very clean. It is not Cuba sand.
G - Any thing you buy are as expensive as usa / Canada.
H - there is no meat on Friday and Saturday. no cook food.

Note: in this hotel , they charge for extra kids. at the begining do not show your kids to the reciptioniest.

Location: North beach area. Almost next to the airport. It is about 15 min walk to North Beach. In Eilat, this means that it gets more blazing hot desert wind than locations closer to sea. There is a plain with salt ponds on the back, this adds to the hot winds. If you want to go to South beach for diving, snorkling or the Aquarium, it is about a 10 min drive.

Hotel: Built as a huge square building with the huge pool area in the middle. Pool is a paradise for kids, it is fantasy shaped with "canals" along all ground floor rooms, which all have a patio with lounge bed, from which you can just dip into the water. All rooms on the higher floors have balconies.

Rooms: Spacious, comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are adequate. The building is huge, but you can drive around and park close to your room.

There are also some points you'd better know before making your choice:

This hotel seems to be focused only on Israeli vacationers with kids. Apart from the reception desk (where people are helpful) many of the staff in the restaurant and bars area barely spoke any english, french or german. Also quite a few of them seemed unexperienced and uninterested. Opening hours of bar and restaurant are very limited. No room-service. Checking in or out on Friday (when Sabbath weekenders arrive) can take a long time! Expect many families with children arriving on Friday for the Sabbath weekend.

If you are aware of these points and don't mind, then this hotel is worth the money.

This was our second stay at the Agamim and we will hopefully be back for many more. We love the Agamim.
It is a relatively new hotel in Eilat. The price is just only slightly below what the popular hotels on the beach ask but it is well worth it.
Agamim is set about 5 minutes walking from the beach so no views of the Red Sea view. It makes up for it though with stunning pool views. There are two types of rooms in this hotel, pool view and "on the water" rooms. The on the water rooms are substantially more expensive but well worth the expense. The hotel is build around a court yard containing a large pool with little streams coming out of it which go by all the "on the water" rooms which means you can jump right in from your own beautiful deck. We spend one day just hanging out at the hotel, the surroundings are so pleasant there was no need to leave at all.
Other positive points: very extensive breakfast stays open till 12, large very clean rooms with queen beds (double beds are still very common in Israel) , excellent service.
Only negatives: Last time we visited some of the other guests were a bit loud and the hotel staff didn’t do much about it. This is a general problem in Eilat though.
The exercise room comes at an extra fee

I won't mention what other reviewers have already commented on- the late breakfast, the chillout motif, the fact that its a 10 min walk from the promenade (it actually took my friend and I about 8 minutes).

The hotel is more basic then the 5 star options in Eilat, but having stayed at the Royal Beach twice, the Hilton Queen of Sheba and the Meridian, I can say that the Agamim wins hands down.

None of the pretentious, stare-me-downs you get at the 5 star hotels; the pool far surpasses that of royal beach or queen of sheba in every way. The Agamim pool is spacious and has many varied seating options, not just the regular sun loungers. You can always find a spot by yourselves, and not have to be packed like sardines with every other visitor to the hotel.

The chillout motto is 100% true. I have never been so relaxed as when I stayed at the Agamim, and the fact that I don't need to wake up at 8am for breakfast certainly helps that along!

DEFINITELY recommended!

We stayed at the Agamim for 5 nights over the Xmas break 2007. we were 2 adults and 3 kids aged 9, 7 and 4 and had booked a family room which was 2 rooms with a double bed in one, and 2 pull out sofas in the other, and 2 bathrooms.

We have stayed at a variety of hotels in Eilat so know what to expect and would list the following pros and cons;

Pros:
1. The hotel has a fabulous pool area with plenty of sunbeds and swing chairs, hammocks and double mattresses to relax on.
2. The pool was heated even in winter.
3. The 'rooms on the water' are great, giving you a private decked area and the facility to get right in the water from your room, have a swim and come back to your room straight away.
4. The hotel does not seem that well known yet with the British crowd so it was not overcorwded at all, even in a peak season.
5. Breakfast is open until 12 which is great as you don't have to panic that you won't be up in time to eat there. You can also have breakfast and pop back later for a delicious cappucinno and cake!
6. Location is good, away from the main strip of hotels but near enough to walk to the other restaurants and to the shopping mall.

Cons:
1. The rooms are small and basic, and were not thoroughly cleaned every day, with dirty mugs being left out and not enough towels provided.
2. The service was appalling. The manager Rachel was very accomodating but she was the only one in the hotel who appeared to actually care about the guests.
3. There is a snack bar by the pool with burgers, hot dogs etc. The service there was the slowest I have ever experienced. None of the staff appeared to know what they were doing and had a bad attitude, not appearing to care that they had customers waiting.
4. The breakfast was adequate. It is the typical wonderful Israeli breakfast with all the choices you would expect - eggs, cheese, rolls everything, but the quality was really not up to scratch.
5. We ate in the buffet in the evening once - again, plenty of choice just not great quality.

Having stayed at the 5 star Royal Beach (also Isrotel) down the road, you can certainly tell this is not a 5 star hotel. However, we did pay less than half the amount we have paid for the Royal Beach in the past, so I suppose the old adage is true - you get what you pay for.

To summarise, the hotel itself is small and basic but pleasant enough, but the pool area more than makes up for it. If you are looking for a cheap break in Eilat (where the hotels can be very pricey), you would make a good choice to stay at the Agamim. Don't expect 5 star luxury service as you won't get it, but you will get good value for money and a lovely pool holiday.

Stayed December 2007
