“much more than we expected to”

As a couple who travels to Eilat every year at least once, we were surprised to discover the Herods Boutique for the first time, and how much better it is than any other hotel we have ever stayed in.
The Herods Boutique is by-far the best hotel in Eilat (at least), for three main reasons:
1) It is a truly a boutique hotel, noticeable in attention given to every little espect, start with the
magnificent design of every part of the hotel (especially the rooms), continue with the luxurious swimming pool on the hotel's rooftop (!) and up to the extremely professional and yet personal treatment of the hotel staff, led by Haim the hotel manager.
2) The food served in the dining room is probably the best Israel has to offer, made by great chefs, and can only be compared to Tel Aviv's top chef's restaurant. way better than any other hotel in Eilat.
3) The entire Herods complex includes 3 hotels, each one with different characters. All three hotels are conected by bridges above street level, so a guest can enjoy the different benefits of each hotel without ever stepping out the main door, but not be disturbed by others. So one can stay at the Herods Boutique - which, as mentioned, is the best in every espect - and yet use the excelent spa in the Herods vitalis or the children's activities in the Herods palace.

We have nothing but praises to this little slice of heaven, and the wonderfull, kind and professional hotel staff, who considered great efforts to justify the Herods Boutique's reputation and make our vecation the best one yet. We'll definitely return next year.

We booked online at the last minute for a 1 night stay (booking.com) and only paid about $114 per night. The hotel was perfect for this price, but I might be a little disappointed if I paid more. The hotel is not boutique in size; it's enormous. But some of the details are very cute, like the doors and decor. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was obviously once glamorous, but it's a bit shabby now. I didn't mind at all; it's still very clean. Also, the bathroom was huge and the shower was fantastic. Moreover, the breakfast is AMAZING. There are a thousand choices. (It's served across the street in the main Herods Hotel, but perhaps that's just because we were there in March.)

The pool (again at the main Herods Hotel) was really lovely, although the bar didn't open until after 11:00 am. We could have used some water to drink.

My biggest complaint is that we were not able to get a late check-out, although we checked in very late the night before. However, we were allowed to park for free and keep our car there for a few hours after we checked out. The staff were friendly.

An overall lack of maintenance and care. The hotel looks like build in the nineteen sixties and not much done to it since then. The Boutique side has the advantage of a smaller scale than the massive Palace. A lot of choice on the breakfast. Saturday arrangements a disaster as usual. No fresh coffee and food etc. Overall a high Fawlty Towers content. If breakfast is from 07.00 why is it not ready at 07.00 ? On the positive side we got an upgrade to a larger room and a bottle of wine to enjoy. The hotel is connected to the public beach but the water at this North side is not the cleanest. The other side looks over a half finished marina. A bit depressing as most of Eilat is.
