Very disappointing, far from what it promises to be. Location is good if you are seeking the upper Carmel neighborhood feeling. Reception staff was a bit snappish. Elevator doors would only open half way on first floor, we never used it again. There are four room types. We were upgraded to a suite which is in fact a large and spacious room but no balcony.
There are two main problems with this hotel, first are the hotel materials and second is the maintenance and upkeep. Materials are cheap all over, or at least feel this way. From interior doors to very unpleasant bath towels, the general sensation is that refurbishment and overall level was kept to the minimum. Maintenance is even a bigger issue. Rooms smell of wetness and dust, window drapes feel like they have not been cleaned since ever, and some parts of the walls actually show moist. Tea bags look about three years old. Nothing you would expect from a modern hotel, let alone a boutique one. Breakfast was ok, nothing more nothing less. All in all, would not stay here again and still wondering why I did the first time around. A change of management and a total redo is a must if the charm and potential of this place is to be fulfilled.
