“Beautiful Spot, Generous sized rooms, Good Value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2010

I recieved very nice service at this hotel. The room was very very roomy which isone of the things I liked best at this hotel. It had a sitting room with a plasma tv and a bedroom w/ a plasma. My bed was sooooo comfortable! The bathroom was clean and nice . The shower had GREAT water pressure. Getting good shower pressure in Israel is not that easy so I found that very nice. They offered a nice shower gel and shampoo in my bathroom. My room had pleasant views of the Mediteranean Sea and Haifa mountain.
The location of the hotel is on the beach with many good restaurants that are walkable nearby. The hotel provides as many towels as you wish to take with you to the beach.
The hotel has ann indoor pool that opens up partly to the outdoors.
The Gym was fine . It had 2 treadmills , an elliptical and a bike. It also had a weight room. I had breakfast in the hotel a couple of times and it was an elaborate spread with a generous and lengthy selection. Cheeses, Eggs made upon request, good coffee, vegetables, fruits, breads, pastries etc
The hotel has a business center that has wine and nice selections of food. It has computers and newspapers..I would reccomend this hotel for someone that wants to be in Haifa on the beach or closeby in the Haifa mountain area where there is much to do and see.

The Leonardo in Haifa is a bit difficult to classify. I was a guest of the Haifa sailing club and was one of a number of race officials that stayed at the hotel for ten days during an international sailing regatta

It’s right on the beach – so great for families. And indeed there were always families with small children in profusion.

Yet at the same time it’s an easy 15 minute walk from Haifa Hof Ha-karmel station and another ten minutes walk to the “silicon valley” business park. So convenient for business travellers.

Food in the main restaurant is buffet style and very much aimed at the family market. Breakfasts were excellent with home baked, hot fresh bread, eggs and waffles cooked to order and a huge range of salads and cereals. The dinner was excellent too with loads of choice. Not gourmet but very tasty.

However from a business viewpoint there isn’t really the ambiance where you can have a quiet meal with customers. The only bar is quite small and in the main reception area – so no respite if you want to avoid the children.

However there is a business floor and the business lounge has free wi-fi, free wine, excellent salads, teas, coffees, snacks and cakes. Continental breakfast is served in the business lounge too.

My room was comfortable, reasonably large and very quiet except when there were young children playing in the corridor or in their room with the door wide open. The air conditioning in the room was super cool although not all the corridors were kept fully air-conditioned. Cleaning was initially a bit slapdash – one bedside table had big smears of chocolate on it (at least I hope it was chocolate) from a previous guest and it wasn’t cleaned until I mentioned the problem to the room maid three days after I moved in. But otherwise it was very clean and well maintained.

Service was mixed. Everybody was very helpful but clearly not used to the different expectations of a large number of Western European visitors.

But all in all I very much enjoyed the stay.

This was apparently once the Meridien, but don't expect great things on that basis. It is basically a large 3.5 star hotel (but rates itself higher), which does the job but no more. I had issues with rather incompetent staff at reception, who seemed completely bamboozled by simple questions until a far more efficient manageress fortunately stepped in. I also had issues with the hotel's location, which looks central enough on maps but is actually quite remote plus very difficult to find - we drove past it several times because the hotel's name only appears in English on the side facing the sea. On the roadside it is in Hebrew, which is rather difficult to read for those of us who don't read it! The bottom line: quite ok if there is nothing else, but I would check out alterntives first.

This hotel was an excellent experience with exceptionally helpful staff and a clean, comfortable room with a great view. The bathroom was very well maintained with the best shower of any of the 6 hotels we visited during our trip to Israel.

We booked a half board package and were delighted with the quality of food at both dinner and breakfast, helped by the friendly and efficient staff. There were also a number of small touches that made this hotel such a good experience, for example the provision of complimentary cold drinks at reception.

We will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we're in Haifa.

This hotel thinks its a five star where in reallity its more like 3 star. There is nothing special to note of the Leonardo except that i was glad to leave. I had access to the business lounge where the food was stale and the drink non-existent, with one member of staff more interested in her phone than the guests.
If you wish to visit Haifa you will need a Taxi as some distance away.

New management over the last few months must have made a difference. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast had enough variety to meet most peoples needs. I had a Shabbos Friday night dinner for 13 people. they made a nice effort helping us make this a good family/friend dinner. The meal friday night was very good with lots of meat choices. I thought the desserts were mediocre, but who needs the empty calories? There was melon, watermelon and some other fresh fruits that were adequate. Very good selection for vegetarians. The pool water was very comfortable-however indoor only. The business suite offered free computer access and nice extras over the usual travel. Great view of the beach and mediterannian. The beach near the hotel was very nice on Friday and full of rubbish left by the bathers on Saturday night. Typical Israeli attitude toward a green world. The pool and workout area closed at 8pm. I would have liked to be open more hours. However the hotel would have to move the workout area away from the pool. I found the staff very helpful. The hotel is not near anything in walking distance other than the sea. The surrounding area of the hotel is not very good- uncompleted construction- not worked on for years and railroad tracks. The lobby was small but very comfortable. they had a beautiful free food and drinks there in the afternoon prior to a Jewish Holiday. Very nice touch. Overall very good experience. Wifi not free and seemed costly

We traveled to Haifa bay from Tel Aviv with my wife to have a short weekend runaway to relax at Leonardo Hotel, at the entrance to Haifa. The hotel is located just on the seashore (fact that will play a key role in our story), but quite away from atractions centers of the city. That means that if you look for an hotel that as basis for travel around Haifa, there are better located hotels... but not necesary better hotels at all!
After parking and checking in, we entered to our room..., sorry to our suite..., sorry to our small apartment, and stood there amazed, don't knowing were to look first.
The suite has a mater bedroom (with LCD TV), a kid's bedroom with two beds (and LCD TV), a rather big walk in kithchen with full size fridge and coffee maker, a dinning corner with round table and 4 comfortable chairs. A more than ample living room with coffe table (and again a big plasma TV), and a small additional coffee table overlooking the main feature of the suite: an increadible big, floor to sealing, window with all the mediterranean sea only for you, nothing in between you and the sea! I thought about describing the view, but a picture worth a thousand words. Please take a look at the pictures. There is also a nice promenade by the sea and sandy beaches 4 km long, where you can have a romantic stroll at the sunset.
To cut a story short, we forgot about traveling around Haifa and stayed all the weekend at our suite, reading and looking at the sea. Nothing better for romance and relax.
AND ALL THIS FOR THE NORMAL PRICE OF A 4 STAR HOTEL'S ROOM.
Quite difficult to compete with the package!
