This hotel is characterised by the helpfulness of its staff, especially Tsipora on reception. Though the rooms are a bit faded and quite small, they are perfectly comfortable if you are not going to spend much time in them. We were on a Baha'i pilgrimage and only came back to the hotel to sleep, so this was fine. Most rooms have either a balcony or a superb view - we were lucky enough to get a corner room, and had both!

Plus points:
- friendly staff
- very good and varied breakfast choices
- lovely views from terrace and from some rooms
- rooms have fridge and tea/coffee
- high standard of housekeeping

Less impressive:
- rooms due for refurbishment
- hotel didn't seem interested in providing a packed lunch - we gave up after the first day, and just bought lunch in the supermarket

Tips for Baha'i pilgrims:
(1) The hotel is on the Yefe Nof, and you can walk along this road on a raised promenade all the way to the top of the Terraces. Once you have your pilgrim badge, you will be allowed onto the Terraces at all times during daylight hours.
(2) Good restaurants are a short walk away at the Carmel centre - we recommend Habank where you can get a delicious (and enormous) salad. There is the usual Mcdonalds etc up there too.
(3) If you are a seasoned walker, try the Bene Or stairs for an interesting back route down to the pilgrim centre
(4) If you prefer to ride in a bus or sherut, many of them stop at the Carmel centre which is only 5 mins walk from the hotel

This hotel was an excellent deal. They had a good breakfast, which was included in the price. The hotel was a little hard for us to find, but after a few trips around the area we found it! Our only complaint was that the room adjoining ours had smokers in it (we booked a nonsmoking room, we're both allergic) and it smelled like they were smoking in our room!
Otherwise it's in a quiet, central location with several good restaurants nearby. A great deal!

This is the little sister of the Dan chain and scores highly against the larger impersonal properties.
If you are looking for a comfortable affordable room and don't mind no pool or bar then this is ideal.
What makes it a high score in my book is the staff who are exceptionally professional for Israel.
The steps up to the entrance are a bit of a challenge and not for anybody with a mobility problem but you will get help with your luggage if you ask.
Breakfast is fine and you can take coffee on the terrrace outside
when it is not too hot.
It is about a 15min walk to the central Carmel where you will find shops and restaurants. You can use the pool at the Dan Panorama about a nine minute walk away.
If you want a drink the reception staff will get it for you and will also call taxis etc.
Aircon good in the bedrooms. TV has the usual Israeli mix including CNN and SKY News.

A real treat to find a 'reasonably' priced hotel in the Dan Group. We booked in for two nights and were pleasantly surprised. The room was very modern, clean and comfortable with good industrial air conditioning - a real bonus in July!
It is in a good location in the Carmel region of Haifa and not far from the Ba'hai Gardens and the only metro system in Israel.
My only comment is about the slightly surly young lady on reception when we rocked up to check in. Being met with a 'what' when you have battled your way through Haifa's crazy one way system is not the best in customer service.

Dan Gardens is a nice place to stay while in Haifa.
Location is quite nice, but no view of the Baha'i Gardens. You have to walk a few blocks to get to the main road where all the restaurants are, and where you can catch a bus or taxi.
Rooms are nice, they could be cleaner though. We got a corner room which seemed to be bigger than others.
Breakfast is great, wonderful bread and a great variety of cheese, jams, etc....
They have internet access in the lobby, it isnt free though.
Overall its a nice place to stay, and seeing that all hotels in Haifa are similar, it's one of the best options.
