If you have half a day why touring Israel and you are traveling north to south or vice versa, spend some half a day in Haifa. You can start your tour at the 500 meters height Carmel Mountain at the Carmel center near the hotels. Here you can walk and enjoy a breathtaking landscapes (50 km up to the Lebanon border can be seen) while walking at the Yafe Nof (panorama) street. When in this street, you can taste the Bahai Gardens free entrance: go to the nice gardens entrance, and you can enjoy a little part of the gardens without an organized tour. If you have the time and you arrived at the organized tours hours, you can have a tour at these gardens for an hour: you start at the Yafe Nof street and with the guided tour (English and Hebrew) you arrived at the exit at the Hadar negibhourghood. You take a taxi for 3 dollars back to the car parking at the Carmel Yafe Nof street where you started the tour. After this short/long tour, you continue walking or with the car to the German Colony promenade: 1870 dated Templar german houses, decorated the nice avenue. Here is an excellent point to taste Israeli food (you have many restaurant choices).
