Sasson is a new and welcome addition to the rather glum culinary scene of Haifa. It is a nice place to eat, drink and meet with friends. alas, it could be much nicer. Lets start with the good - the place is well located, nicely decorated large and roomy space. Sitting is well spaced and comfortable and early in the evening the music is almost tolerable. The menu looks interesting, indeed it tries a bit too hard to be original. The dishes look nice and taste reasonably good (I think I had a fair sampling in two visits with my companion). Now for the less good - there is no real cooking at sasson, the menu items as well as the dishes themselves are little more than lists of ingredients, thrown together haphazardly. As for the drinks - the usual fare with a rather dull and limited choice of draft beers. Now for the bad - on my first visit the service was simply unprofessional, which is par for the course. On my second visit it was rude, aggressive and a real nuisance and succeeded in spoiling the evening for us. The prices are quite high for the food you get. This is a place with potential - all it needs is a cook and a manager.
