“Comfy and convenient”

The Legacy is a smart modern hotel, conveniently close to the old city. Our room was large and bright, with a big balcony. Breakfast was good, and served on the top floor of the hotel with wonderful views. We didn't eat dinner but there was a range of sandwiches and salads for a quick bite. Staff were friendly and generally helpful, although it took them two days to mend the bath in our room (which we had specifically requested when we booked) and they were reluctant to give us a discount. Also the gym and swimming pool were closed for maintenance -- something they forgot to tell us in advance!

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. A bunch of us were there for a friend's wedding, and they bent over backwards to accommodate our mad demands - eating together as one big gaggle at breakfast, sitting on the balcony to the bar on the 5th floor overlooking the city and drinking into the early hours, fetching and carrying ironing boards on the day of the wedding etc. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The food is also very tasty and very good value.
Our bedroom was large with a lovely balcony with a view of East Jerusalem.
Everything was clean and tidy and as you'd expect from a hotel of this calibre. Highly recommended!

  • Liked — The friendly staff
  • Disliked — Nablus Road can be hard to find when you first get into Jerusalem. Ask for the American Colony, and it's just along the road from there.

We moved into the Legacy for one night after moving out of another hotel that was substandard and more expensive.

The Legacy Hotel is the refurbished WYMC in East Jerusalem and it is beautiful. The rooms are contemporary and on the smallish side, but they are immaculately clean with new beds and furniture, laminate wooden flooring and large windows. The room we had had a very large balcony with a table and 4 chairs. There is a flat-screened TV as well as free wireless internet.

The service of both receptionists and waiters was impeccable. The sitting area at the entrance was aesthetic and the garden was a very good place to sit.

We didn't go to the swimming pool or to the gym, but they are there.

The food is excellent and substantial. The 5th floor of the hotel is the restaurant with a great view over the city. The food is a combination of Middle Eastern and international (try the mezze - it's tremendous). Breakfast is very good. I was disappointed they didn't have water melon and more fresh fruit, but apart from that there was everything from smoked salmon, fine cheeses to cereals. A highlight was freshly-squeezed orange.

We paid $150 for the room ($10 less than the rundown hotel we moved out of after only one night).

We live in Nazareth, so definitely will go there again. It is a relatively short walk to the Damascus Gate at the Old City. Takes longer to walk to west Jerusalem.

We've stayed in several hotels. For the price, this is very good value.

  • Liked — Contemporary clean accommodation with great food.
  • Disliked — Indoor pool. Would love outdoor pool.

The Legacy Hotel is located in the renovated YMCA in East Jerusalem. It has been magically restored into a boutique hotel whose rooftop restaurant and terraces have magnificent views of Jerusalem and the Old City. We found the service very friendly and efficient. The rooms were nicely decorated, but quite small, with low-quality air conditioning. Our room had a huge outdoor terrace, although most rooms do not have a terrace. The location is great, very walkable from Damascus Gate in the Old City and not too far from the Rockefeller Museum, Museum on the Seam. It's a bit of a hike to Jaffa Street, but still not too bad. Guests interested in using the advertised sports facilities at the hotel should be advised that these are still run by the YMCA and there are large blocks of time when they are off-limits to hotel guests.

  • Liked — Good service
  • Disliked — Restrictions on using the sports facilities, small rooms, low-quality air conditioning
