“Great hotel in Jerusalem.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2010

On a recent trip to Israel, I visited Jerusalem for a couple of days. After doing much research online, we decided to stay at the Legacy hotel. The hotel staff are English speaking, and very friendly. The hotel itself is modern and clean- it used to be a YMCA, but has undergone quite a facelift. The rooms were reasonably sized. Some had balconies- ours didn't. The breakfast, which was included in the price of our room, was great. We enjoyed going to the restaurant, which is on one of the upper floors of the hotel, every morning, and sitting on the wrap-around terrace that overlooked the city. We had lunch in the restaurant, as well, and it was quite good. The hotel has a pool, but I didn't use it. Hotel guests get free parking in the lot across the street. There is a great outdoor lounge just outside the hotel lobby. It is open all day, and for a good part of the night. It is great for music, drinks, snacks, hookahs, and hanging out. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the old city. The area is a little crazy and congested, and I don't recommend driving around. The streets and the drivers are crazy, the road signs are hard to find, and your GPS will not work in the city. Overall, I highly recommend the Legacy.

Our small group of 11 spent two nights at the Legacy Hotel March 27 & 28th.. The rooms are small, but the evening meals and buffet breakfast were great... and the staff was so helpful.. Wonderful location in East Jerusalem too... just down the street from the Garden Tomb and Old City Walls...

The Legacy had the perfect location, only a 10 minute walk to Damascus Gate. The staff were very helpful. Room was nice and clean with a huge balcony, only downside was the bathroom was a bit small. Breakfast is served on the top floor, there’s an outdoor area which is lovely and has a nice view of the old city. I would definitely stay at the Legacy again; it's a nice Boutique hotel.

The best and amazing and the wonderfull thing is that the hotel is a COMPLETELY non smoking hotel and they enforce it very well!!! it was excelent not to smell nicotin.
Except that some little lies: The so called 3 restaurants at the fifth floor are not but one restaurant functions as a breakfast buffet, and in the evening as one (!!!) elegant restaurant with a bar
the fitness rome and the swimming poll...well GIVE ME A BREAK!!! at its best you can say that it is a slummy fitness & swiming poll. surely not the one you expect for a $150 .
Another lie/cheating is that the waiters give you a water without asking you and then charge you fot that in the bill for "mineral water". So you have to say quickly as saying "Jack Robinson" or as fast as "last card" in a takki card game ,since if you wink for a second they DO give you a water and charge you for it.
the third lie is that they do not have all the activities they claim to have.
the reception is not but a rent a car desk like. and saying some polite phrases such as:you welcome sir.good morning sir and ,as you wish sir, enjoy your stay etc is not enough.
and yes. it is true they do not have a king size bed as being published.
you pay for a hotel but get a romme in hostel. a good one,but still a rome in a hostel , not a room in a hotel.
I would recommend the JERUSALEM Ambassador hotel (ONLY AND ONLY IF YOU REALY CAN NOT SMOKE IN IT) which is more lively and much more full of joy and much more welcoming and much more warm than the LEGACY hotel.

The location of the Legacy is great as it's only a short 5 minute walk to the Damascus gate. The hotel also has a nice restaurant and ample parking. Parking for us was an issue as the attendant was very unhelpful and pretended to not know english and we were given the run around for hours. The parking lot was also a source of a lot of noise into the late hours of the night.

The bathroom facilities are limited to a shower and no bath. Not a big deal for most, however the shower head was on a hose and it never pointed into the shower... most of the time it became twisted and sprayed water out the open window!

Lastly, the hotel's web site said there were queen beds but they were really two singles pushed together. The balcony was fantastic though.

Overall, not worth the $$.

The hotel is not cheap - 150 USD per night for a single room. Since the ranking was quite high on Tripadvisor, I thought it was going to be a nice one. The bathroom is really poor and the room is very basic. Staff were not that friendly, the worst is the hotel tried to charge me $3 for each stamp while the value is only about 90 cents (3.80 local currency)!! That's just ridiculous! Although it's close to the Damascus gate of the old city, there is nothing around you can really walk to. Doesn't feel that safe at night around either. The fitness center is never open.

We visited the city as Easter and Passover were in full swing and hotels were overflowing. We were able to check in early however and found the hotel convenient for walking round the old city. The dining room was fine as far as the food was concerned but the service was very poor verging on chaotic which was annoying after a heavy day sightseeing. Breakfast the next day was another matter entirely with a good selection of food and attentive - and different! - waiting staff. The hotel was fairly expensive for a basic room but that I suspect it reflected the time of year and was probably in keeping with other hotels accordingly. Overall perfectly adequate and well located - just needs to remove Basil Fawlty from dinner management!
