“Inconsistent experience: elegant, but disappointing hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2012

Frankly speaking, I am in doubts about reviewing of this hotel: the hotel is apparently renovated, funrishings and facilities seem to be a 4-star but the services definitely not.

The main problem of this hotel is an absolute lack of any relevant information about services. The hotel book or booklet is missing in the rooms (!!!) and you don't know anything about opening hours of restaurants, pools, spa center, etc. The reception-desk staff provides brief replies only, without any hints of helpfulness. Waiters and waitresses in both dining room and lobby restaurant are also totally unhelpful and the tableware was dirty sometimes. The reception-desk staff confused my order of a taxi, the waitress confused my order of the meal.

Rooms are fitted out with elegant furnitures and flat TV, the bathroom is also renovated. However, the screen on the bathtube is installed firmly and thus it is very difficult to clean the bathtube properly. If I observed my room after lodging, wide strips of mold were around the bathtube (see photo). After my complaint on the reception desk, the mold was partly (but not completely) removed during next day.

My room was located in the corner of the floor, with panoramatic window, but without a balcony. Due to location near a highway, the rooms are very noisy, especially in the night (I assume that the windows are not-sealing) - but it is obviously a problem of all three hotels in this area (Ramada, Leonardo Inn, Park Hotel). The window in my room cannot be opened but air conditioning can be regulated easily in the rooms.

To fit a 4-star international standards, some other aspects should be also changed. For example:
1) Services are poor on Fridays and completely reduced during the Sabbath.
2) Free wi-fi was available neither in the lobby, nor in the rooms. The fee is for one hour or for one day and it is very expensive if compared with similar hotels.
3) Niether a coffee maker nor the minibar are available on the rooms. There is a small empty fridge only.
4) Bathrobes are not available.
5) Key cards did not function solidly.

To summarize, the hotel is overpriced in view of the disappointing services.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are larger but without a balcony.

We stayed 2 nights during the weekend. The room was on the first floor, the bathroom was brand new but the room it self is a little outdated, but overall was clean and nice. The outdoor swimming pool is large and clean, and we had good weather, the water was a bit icy cold.
Overall we had a good time and will consider coming back.

I stayed at the Ramada Hotel in Jeruslaem during a conference I had in the city. The staff was really friendly and I was even more impressed with the general manager of the hotel, Jacob Shaari. I was staying with a group of researchers at the hotel and he came over to us and introduced himself and was very amicable and forthcoming. The continental breakfast was very lavish with a large and fresh selection of food. We were there in the summer and the outdoor pool was just perfect. HIghly recommended. The hotel was full but we got great service and an excellent room.

My boyfriend and I flew to Israel in the beginning of August of 2012. We stayed 4 days in Jerusalem.

Our stay in Jerusalem was absolutely unforgettable. One of the reasons was definitely because of our accommodation at the Ramada.

Staying at the Ramada worth every shekel (Israel currency) you pay.

On our arrival, we were welcomed by friendly and warm receptionists who provide us with all information or anything we needed or asked for.

They gave us excellent recommendations on transportation, restaurants places and events to go, for instance, the vibrant and colorful Mahane Yehuda Market (which we hadn’t heard about until then), the “Night Spectacular” in the Old Citadel of King David and the Western Tunnels Walls.

The rooms are extremely neat, clean and good in size (not tiny as we experienced in so many hotels sometimes), with air-conditioner .

The breakfast buffet is served with a lot of local food, and not the typical continental or English breakfast. They served several types of bread, milk, coffee, lemonade and orange juice, vegetables and fruit salads, corn flakes, cereals and cheese. More than enough for what we wanted.

The location couldn’t be better. It is just 50 meters walking from the city train that gets you evry where
and to Yad Vashem Museum (the Israeli Holocaust Museum) (5 min.).

There is an additional service provided by the hotel that should be pointed put. At the lounge room and balcony, the hotel offers to its guests exellent food

Without any question, I will stay at Ramada if I come back to Jerusalem and will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends that plan to visit Israel.

I had an amazing experience in the ramada hotel, rooms were cleam and neat, food was excelland and varied and plentiful. The pools were also really good, nice and clean and i like the outdoor one better cus i could also relax on the lounge chairs there there were activities for the kids plus they catered to the chareidi public. The staff were really nice. it's also close to bus service or the ligh rail so it's easy to get around.

all in all a great experience

Ramada is the family hotel in Jerusalem catering for families with lots of kids.

It is great value and I was blown away by the high level of service during the busiest two weeks of the year, mid-august.

Please note it is not a new modern hotel, it is a refurbished (as far as the rooms are concerned) 80's hotel with old style grandeur. Rooms are large and clean.

They had special kids pool-side activities a few times a week e.g. jumping castles and a water slide. A lot of the deck chairs were broken and it is left up to the guests to sort it out.

Location is great for a quick entry and exit from Jerusalem and about $5 in taxi fare from King George and the major hotels.

The Gym has all the latest new TechnoGym equipment

Breakfast has everything but the panache disappears the minute the hordes descend (it was August)

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra for the executive floors, it's worth it
