Now I know many people in Israel don't tip but being from the US, we do. So when I travel internationally I sometimes exchange a few bucks in the local currency but not a lot during my stay preferring to put the majority of the tips on my card when I use it at the hotel. Well apparently the Mamilla's tipping distribution to the staff has to be TERRIBLE. Everytime I payed or charged something to my room with my card the staff constantly reminded me that they prefer the tips in cash. No KIDDING!!!!! but I don't carry local currency. They are just looking to pocket the cash and not give it to any other members b/c again most DON"T tip in Israel.

This hotel was run by a bunch of high school kids that could care less about anything you ask them but again this is a bit to do with the Israeli culture as well. Our 'King' bed was two twins pushed together and while the hotel is nice, the cost is not worth it at all. Everything is cheap and a NYC wanna-bee type hotel but at least these types of hotels in NYC have experienced hotel staff.

The only plus about this hotel was the location and the views from the roof deck. The food at the rest on top of the hotel was good but I agree that the staff again was not all that great. The best folks at the hotel that worked were not Israeli's but American's or Brits who moved to Israel.

Great location for visiting the old and new city, but be ready for challanges.
The hotel trys to be more modern then a W, but misses on basics such as the lighting in the room (lights shine on corners where you can not sit or read), bathrooms with no space to put down your items and showers that flood the whole floor (ask for extra towels to block the water).
We resreved an executive room for $550/nt and when we checked in the desk announced to our surprise " we have a sell today - if you pay an extra $200/nt we will upgrade you to the next level" -used to such a opening from used car salesmen.
When turned down the offer were shown 2 rooms not liveable. Had to insist on talking to the Hotel Gen. Mgr. before the right room was provided. The staff has no authority to make any decisions.

Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem is about two yrs. old and is owned by David's Citadel which is across the street and about $150 a night more expensive. A "host" emailed us a few weeks before we left for Israel and wanted to know if there was anything special we might need. I asked for extra down pillow -they were in our room when we arrived. The room was not big- but not small. We had a king size bed and there was enough room to get around. There was a small table and chair and along padded bench in the room. The drawers and closets were in the hall with lots of full length mirrors. Very contemporary. The bathroom area was surrounded by glass and one could push a button and the glass would become opaque. That was kind of fun. Fruit was delivered after we arrived.
The host checked with us now and then to see if everything was OK. The staff was extremely helpful in giving us directions and getting us reservations. There is a newly opened spa, a roof restaurant in which you can see the old wall and Jaffa gait. So the Old City is very close A beautiful mall is attached to the hotel and is about a 2 blocks long and ends at the Jaffa gait to the old city. The mall has galleries, shops, and many outdoor/indoor restaurants the hotel is in a perfect location. Totally safe to walk anywhere in the area. The hotel was extremely clean and friendly. The breakfast which was included was spectacular and the best we had in Israel (we were in Israel a month). There is a business office, and Wi Fi throughout. There is a pool which we never used and a few dinning areas. We spent 9 days in Jerusalem and only have praise for the hotel. It is walking distance from a lot of sites like the Ben Yehuda Shuk but one needs a taxi to go to many of the sites.

Room Tip: get a room facing the mall- it is quiet- no cars

The Mamilla is a first class hotel in the best location in Jerusalem. The service at the hotel was excellent. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The breakfast buffets are outstanding.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel! The location was perfect, the rooms are modern and chic, the bed was very comfortable along with the down pillow and heavy cotton sheets. The hotel amenities were L'Occitane. Full breakfast was included which was delicious and of high quality.

The hotel restaurant on the top floor has gorgeous views of Jerusalem and the food and wine was incredible! We ate there 3 times, once for lunch and twice for dinner.

The staff were always so helpful and friendly. Our flight out of Tel Aviv was at 12:00am, so we asked if we could get a late checkout. They offered to let us checkout at 2:00pm (at no charge), but also offered us an even later checkout at 8:00pm for 1/2 the cost of a full night. We went along with the 1/2 cost for the 8:00pm checkout and also a VIP Checkout at the airport that the hotel provided for an additional cost. It was expensive, but when we arrived at the airport, we were whisked to a private room (fruit, cheese and beverages provided) with a flat screen TV, sofa, table and internet access. Our luggage was taken care of. All we did was wait till it was time to board. When the plane was ready for boarding, they took us in a private van to the planes' entrance where we boarded and not ever having to wait at the airport waiting area. Actually, we never even saw the waiting area. No stress what so ever!

This is a first class establishment and provide nothing but the best!
My next visit to Jerusalem will definitely be at the Mamilla Hotel.

Thank you for making our stay in Jerusalem a memorable one!

elegant hotel, excellent restaurant tho expensive for what you get. Spottlessly clean, very attentive staff but why are the mattresses so low to the ground!! I had great difficulty getting out of bed. Next to the rodeo drive {mamilla street] of tel aviv. Terriffic Israeli breakfast. I would definately stay here again.

Truly one of a kind facility. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and unique. Location is perfect. Hotel is a absolute blend of the old and the latest. I love this hotel. Unfortunately, the roof top restaurant, while affording spectacular views, employs an unattentive and green staff--one better off at McDonalds. If this hotel expects to cater to the world traveler and rank among the best of the best, they need to train the staff.
