“Perfect stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Quiet hotel in a very busy area. Great breakfast, lots of healthy options.
Rooms are ample, clean in design. Mamilla mall is right behind the hotel and in front you find a 24h convenience store.
Special thanks to Carlos, who helped us every time possible.

Good location, walking distance to the old city and right inside Mamilla Outdoor shopping mall. Beautiful design but the standard rooms are very small. The lighting in the room and bathroom was terrible. Parking and Internet are NOT included

Dear shevrol,
Thank you for talking the time to write about your stay. Your comments are very important to us because they help us in improving our product. We are happy that you enjoyed the location of Mamilla hotel. We are situated only a few minutes away from the Old City and the Jaffa gate entrance. You are correct that the parking is not included and there is a fee involved. As for the internet, we are surprised that you would write that since the WiFi in Mamilla is complimentary to hotel guests. I would appreciate more details regarding your experience with the internet that led you to believe that it is not complimentary. I may be reached at gladaw@mamillahotel.com.
We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future.

Incredibly beautiful hotel with wonderful rooms and public spaces. No value engineering. All perfect, except possibly the light switches which are numerous and not logically placed. Charming staff eager to help (except for getting coffee at breakfast which generally is a process), but great help on where to eat, how to go. Mohammed and Ibraiham at the front desk amazing, Saar the bartender in the dining room charming and attentive. A lovely place to stay at the high end but with an amazing room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the old city. Makes every morning a thrill

This is one of the most beautiful, well-managed hotels of a modern design I have been in.

There were 30 of us who were greeted by close to 10 staff members directing us through a series of spaces and staircases to refreshments where the manager made an excellent welcoming talk indicating his pleasure of having us, what we could expect and what was available. This was a true first, and the rest of the hotel was as well-managed as this opening.

The hotel is magnificent with old stone walls, much glass and many seating areas with beautiful design characteristics The rooftop restaurant displays the town in magnificent fashion and provides an unique dining experience. The Mirror Bar would be the prime dating place were one dating, so let's just say a romantic bar. Everything quite beautiful, and all designed by our own Moshe Safdi who did the Jepson Center for the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA

But, Moshe should have restricted his work to large and open spaces and let a woman create spaces for bedrooms. While lovely upon first sight and with an ingenious manner of a transparent bathroom which can have the walls clouded by the turn of a switch, the rooms became a nightmare in which to live for more than one night. Electric switches near the floor, insufficient table space, square bathtub preventing laying back, small hallway with closet doors reducing the hall by half, low slung bed ……. in other words, just plain uncomfortable.

The ONLY reason we couldn't give The Mamilla an Excellent Rating is because we needed more lighting in the evening hours. The hotel lobby and atmosphere; wonderful. The staff; very accommodating and friendly. Dinner atop the Hotel...amazing from the view to the menu. The locale; unbelievable. We slept soundly at night...actually, oversleeping a couple of times.

My husband and I liked our room VERY Much, but the lighting while it creates an ambiance, is not helpful when applying makeup and for that matter dressing in the evening. While we appreciate a darkened room for sleep and we do understand the 'hip-ness' of the hotel itself, my husband and I agreed that we would have liked a brighter room, as in lighting. In the daytime, the sunlight was wonderful, but since J'lem gets dark at 5 pm, we both commented on the lack of bright lighting (dimmers, of course!).

Otherwise, we Liked the Mamilla, VERY Much and will return on our next visit...

Last time I was in Israel I stayed at the King David, so imagine my surprise when I fell in love with the Mamilla. It is located very near the heart of the City, has fabulous views of the Tower of David, is alongside the new shopping area with shops as well as many restaurants. However, i it is the luxury experience that the hotel offers that bowled me over. The rooms were spacious and well appointed, the bathrooms fabulous, the overall design was contemporary and yet intimate. Plus the staff was very attentive.
