“Exceptional hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2010

Our stay was exceptional! We believe the Mamilla Hotel is the nicest, most luxurious hotel in Jerusalem; our room was wonderful! The staff was always pleasant and efficient and when our stay was unexpectedly extended, they had such a kind and caring attitude. We will never forget that kindness. The next time we are in Jerusalem, we will definitely choose your hotel again and will make sure all of our friends know about your fine establishment.

Gorgeous looking hotel, nice staff but on balance I would not recommend spending $350 a night at this hotel.
Room was good, well designed, funky bathroom. But connecting door let lots of noise through
Poor poor service (nice staff) but no one able to make a decision, and we couldn't even get the sun deck unlocked the first day, let alone order a drink or food there. No sun umbrellas on the sun deck, gym and spa still not finished (opened 8 months already -come on!!), mirror bar never open, the list goes on. Ultimately it is very expensive for what it delivers in my view.

this hotel is 8 months old and is very poorly designed. the rooms are like caves and are impractical. there is no desks for writing, the washrooms have minimal space for ones toiletries, the cupboard space is minimal and the hanger rack is extremely high such that a rod is provided. the rooms facing the road are not soundproofed so traffic is heard and if you are a light sleeper you are in trouble. the staff have not been well trained as when I asked to change my room they twice showed me rooms on the same road side. The only person who has authority to rectify problems is the general manager who has no people skills and has no concept of customer satisfaction. if you have a choice do not stay at this hotel.

My wife and I spent a week in Jerusalem and stayed at the Mamilla Hotel.
The hotel is less than a year old, and is part of the Mamilla Complex which includes another hotel and a shopping mall and so on. It was a truly life enhancing experience.
The hotel is elegant and minimalist. The rooms comfortable. particularly the beds. The restaurant ( diary kosher )is very good, another restaurant is to be opened on the roof, which will be a real asset. The pool is very pleasant.
The staff are among the best we have encountered in our travels. All are unfailingly helpful and welcoming. Special mention should be made of Chico and staff in the restaurant, and the ever welcoming smile and positivity of Esther on the door.
A couple of quibbles. Music is piped into the patio garden, when this did not happen, for example during sabbath, the sound of the water feature could be heard, and was delightfully tranquil.
There are doors connecting the rooms which results in some low level sound leakage between rooms.
These are minor considerations however.
Altogether a hotel that can be strongly recommended.

The location is excellent, the entrance lobby is architecturally imaginative, and there's a very good sommelier in the Winery, but there are real design and service issues. The bathroom shelf space [in the studio rooms] is inadequate for two, the coat hangers are placed too high, there is no good desk at which to work. Plus we could hear noises from the room next door - unforgiveable in a brand new hotel! Also the very large breakfast space has the noise levels and the look of a canteen - not somewhere for a breakfast meeting.
Perhaps the service will improve - but I lost count of the times we had to ask more than once for something, whether for the room, or at breakfast, or for our luggage at checkout.

The Mamilla location is ideally located by the Old City walls. The staff was in general very friendly and helpful. However, the rooms are rquite small--There was no bathtub in my room only a walk-in shower! The beds were only two twin beds pushed together to save space--definitely not the heavenly bed of the Westin chain. Further there is no coffee maker in the room. The only alternative was a 20 shekel cup of coffee in the lobby. The lobby is gorgeous. The room decor is trying to be edgy, but included a hanging light which inexplicably went on and off in the middle of the night (The hotel is too new to be haunted), a non_working safe, an opaque bathroom, limited toiletries but a large, flat TV screen. The one inexplicable glitch in the service was that we were told in the breakfast room we couldn't sit by the window as seats were "reserved." (They remained empty all morning). If you are mobile and do not mind walking a bit, there are other alternatives the area which should be considered.

Taking into consideration the rest of the hotels in Israel that we stayed at it was definitely a notch above the rest. Being over 6 foot found the beds to be long enough and comfortable. Just could not understand why in Israel certain hotels put two beds together to make a king size bed therefore having a line running through the centre. This needs to be changed to a single king bed. Breakfast was good but the staff need to be able to speak English as well.
