“best restaurant in Israel”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

I found this to be one of the best restaurants in Israel. THe food was outstanding. Local ingredients were used from biblical times. Some stews were reminiscent of dishes my grandmother from eastern Europe made. I ordered the Queen of Sheba dinner. The food was innovative ad excellent if you are the slightest but adventurous. However, if you order a large set dimmer beware you will be unable to finish the dinner so leave room for the main courses and the dessert. SErvice was excellent and the chef very friendly.

“Biblical experience”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

I had the chance to try this unique restaurant and I was amazed. Biblical dishes are incredibly good: try the duck, the figues filled with meat, try the vegetarian food and you'll never forget this wonderful experience. Chef Moshe Basson is a genius: he studied old recipes e ercreated them in an excellent way. He is a very nice person who likes to come to your table to show all the herbs he used to prepare his menu and to explain what you are eating. And there is also a special live show with one of the guests that is picked up from his table... The Eucalyptus restaurant is in the real center of Jerusalem, just outside the wall of the Old City next to a green garden whare you can walk after dinner. It was really a biblical experience.

“Biblical Foods -”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We ordered one of the pre fixe dinners. It was outstanding..We were three adults; we had four appetizers, many mains, etc. Dessert was not included in the meal. That was the only disappointment.

“delicious and entertaining evening”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

My husband and I just got back from a trip to Israel with two of our favourite cousins, it was our last evening in Jerusalem. We asked our son and new daughter-in-law, who live there, to join us and recommend an outstanding restaurant to leave us with a good taste. They did not disappoint. This restaurant specializes in local cuisine that has biblical connections. Being a splurge evening, we opted for the second"tasting menu", which was small portions of many of their specialities, plus a selection of deserts. This was not to be missed. There was a delicious trio of shot-glasses of soups, wonderful preparations of duck, lamb, chicken, vegetables and beef. The chef came by often to explain what we were eating and if there was a particular dish we loved, we were offered more. Amazing.
Can't wait to go back.

“Awful food”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We booked Eucalyptus to celebrate my birthday during our trip to Jerusalem.
When we arrived, the restaurant was empty but if filled up later on.
We were greeted by the waiter and shown to our table. We were keen to try the degustation menu given great reviews on TA.
This is where it all went downhill...
The degustation manues are not printed so we needed to try and remember 7 or so dishes the waited recited for us for each of the 3 degustation menus which made it difficult to compare.
Once the dishes started to arrive, they were of a big size but little taste and did not complement each other. We were full already by the time we got to mains.
Overall, we considered it our worse dinner we had in Jerusalem.
On top of that staff need training, they sit and chatted at other tables while guests were already in the restaurant and all wore trainers (?!). Given that we spent £60 per person, I was disappointing.
The only nice touch was the visit of the restaurant owner/celebrity chef who performed ''upside down''.
