The menu is pricey, but the food is excellent. The atmosphere is usually quite nice, and the service is great. The owner is very friendly, and will stop by to chat up the customers, and really try to get to know everyone who comes in. The wine selection is palpable, and steaks are seared to juicy perfection. Truly the best American-style steakhouse in Jerusalem.

I arrived at the Red Heifer with my family at 7:30 PM. We were quickly seated. The restaurant was less than a quarter full when arrived. The owner came by and talked with us for a few minutes. We asked for our waiter to come and placed our order about 10 minutes after arrival. The appetizers came a few minutes later. The taste and appearance was nothing special. After about an hour of waiting for our main course, I asked the waiter what was the problem since other diners who came and ordered after we did had already received their entrees. The waiter said our food would be out in a few minutes. When the food did not arrive after another 10 minutes, I went to the register and asked to speak to the owner. He refused to come out of the kitchen to speak to me. I asked where our meals were and several waiters just shrugged their shoulders and mumbled that they didn't know. I told them that I would leave in 5 minutes if the food was not brought out. They brought out 2 of the 5 entrees we had ordered 75 minutes earlier. After waiting another 5 minutes for the other 3 meals, I said this was unacceptable and told them to throw the food into the garbage where it belonged.

I have never seen or experienced such poor, inept and terrible service in a lifetime of going to restaurants. How long does it take to cook a chicken breast? Certainly not 80 minutes plus! How were they able to prepare 2 steaks before chicken was served? Doesn't it take longer to broil a steak than it takes to broil chicken? It almost seemed that they were toying with us by not bringing out our food like some sort of prevented, sick game.

Do yourself a favor and do not patronize this poor excuse of a dining establishment. You will be mistreated and ignored. I would rather starve or go without eating before returning to this place. I would have rated it NO stars if able to.

I do not usually respond to reviews, as hard as we try, there are times when we do make mistakes.
This review I feel was completely out of line. Jewish people celebrate the holiday of Sukkot outdoors in huts. We as well, were giving service not in the restaurant but rather outside, (which is not our regular place to serve patrons)
When we sat this customer we explained that we are exceptionally busy and the kitchen is taking longer then usual.
The customer came in after waiting and had a full blown TEMPER TANTRUM and then stormed off!
We at the Red Heifer try to offer a pleasant courteous evening to our patrons. We are not fast food and do take time to prepare our steaks and other plates.
We would have loved to rectify any mistake done on our part but unfortunately were not given the opportunity.

Had a very nice evening meal at this restaurant. The welcome was very nice and friendly and makes you feel as though you really matter from the moment you walk in the door.

The range of starters and main courses was good, and imaginative. The restaurant has an American feel to it in terms of the menu choices and the portion sizes are heading towards American portion sizes. The garlic bread was delicious. The chicken dippers with the jalapeño dip were wonderful, although the onion rings were slightly lacking in flavour, but were enhanced with the jalapeño dip accompanying the chicken dippers.

Th quality and range of steaks is about as good as you are going to get.

The wine list seemed slightly limited in range and also slightly pricey. I stuck to beer which was lovely and cold and more reasonably priced

The restaurant is nicely arranged with both inside and outside dining areas. The service is good and the food is excellent. Well worth a visit.

Nice locations, two steps away from the King David Hotel, good wine list including a nice cabernet under the restaurant label.
The service was above expectations and the owner a kind and helpful host.
Surely the best steakhouse in Jerusalem.

Fabulous steakhouse. Excellent portions at reasonable price. Good location, terrific service. Little noisy, however; after all, it's a bistro
