“very fancy but no ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We stayed at the new Waldorf Astoria in Jerusalem from Thursday to Sunday in June. The lobby and sitting areas are very fancy but in my opinion OVERDONE!!! Many different materials were used and it appears very overstated!!! The rooms, however are beautifully done and very comfortable. Great linens are on the beds and the bathroom is beautifully appointed. There is absolutely NO view from anywhere in the Hotel and the pool was not ready to be used. The location is across the street from a lovely shopping mall however when in Jerusalem a view of the magnificent city and its age old walls is important in my opinion. We did not have a meal there except breakfast.

Room Tip: we had a deluxe king room which was very nice and plenty large. I would assume that the room categor...

Dear Bonnie B,
Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us at Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. While the hotel is located a short walk from the Old City, the magnificent view and historical charm begin inside, upon entering the building. The interior design is dedicated toward a memorable and luxurious stay in the spirit of Jerusalem. The unique retractable glass ceiling in the atrium lobby combined with the arched windows create the ambiance of a Jerusalem city street.

We appreciate your positive comments on our guest rooms. They are the largest in Jerusalem offering the finest amenities and unparalleled comfort.

Please note that our boutique spa with sauna, fitness center and lap pool will open in 2015.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem.

We stayed at the Waldorf for two evenings, and were extremely impressed. The atmosphere is fantastic, the service is impeccable, and the hotel is simply beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful, someone is always available to help if needed. The breakfast is also absolutely delicious, as well as the dairy restaurant! It is located in walking distance to the Old City, Mamilla, and many other attractions.

I look forward to visiting again!

The brand new Jerusalem Waldorf Astoria is a super luxurious hotel in the heart if the city center. It lives up to the Waldorf reputation in every sense. The lobby, restaurants, and all of the public areas are magnificent and fabulously decorated.
The rooms are beautiful, roomy, and have every imaginable high tech feature. The elevators can only be accessed by using a room key, and as such provides a very high level of security and privacy.
Our room had a very high end 42” TV and all of the latest movies were available for free. I was quite surprised that the movies were free, and that was a nice touch.
The service is where the Waldorf really shines. Breakfast at the Waldorf was an event in itself, and the service was impeccable. Fuad the supervisor at the palace restaurant made us feel royalty, and he was a pleasure to meet.
The true gem of the Waldorf is the Guest relations manager, Jason Gordon. Anytime we needed anything at all, he was there to help us, and just being there to personally greet us coming or going was a special personal touch at the Waldorf. Jason makes the Waldorf run like a well-oiled machine! A special thank you to Jason!
The Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem has set the bar for luxury accommodations in Jerusalem!

Hi all, my name is John I worked for the hospitality business for more than 20 years. I would like to share with you my story in Jerusalem. About two weeks ago I was in Jerusalem; I stayed at the king David Hotel, one of the best hotels in Jerusalem. The service was excellent as any 5 star hotels. On my first Fridays my wife and I were invited to have dinner with our friends at the Waldorf Astoria (Palace restaurant), the hotel was magnificent, food was very delicious, and we were fortunate to have Radwan Ibrahim as our waiter, I am not so familiar with the middle eastern food that much, so we asked Radwan about the food like the hummus, tahina, and he explained to us how they make it and what it was made from. I asked for American coffee with milk and he said that it is not kosher and he explained to us why. He explained to us about the hotel and he told us that the Waldorf Astoria first hotel was build in NY and was named after the millionaire William Waldorf Astor, and in 1949 Mr. Conrad Hilton purchased the hotel, and since then it was with the Hilton chain . Around 11 pm we left the hotel and we walked around Jerusalem, around 12:05 we saw Radwan passing by us, and I went and stopped him and invited him for a drink and he said that he doesn't drink, but will stay for 10 minutes, we asked him so many questions about Jerusalem and he has an answer to every question, like the Jerusalem wall, he said it use to be three walls and what we see is the inner wall, the other two were knocked down, he recommended to us to go to city of David where we went the following morning and was as good as he said ,I asked about the manager of the hotel, he said that his name is Guy Klaiman and he is one of the best hotel managers in Israel, I asked him if he knows any good restaurant that is open on Saturday that has kofta kabab and he said that his family owns a restaurant in Abu gosh, so he send me to Caravan restaurant. Then we thank him for all he had done for us, and we told him that we are going to head to LA, and we are going to make a stop in Manhattan for a few days to relax at the Hilton. Then Radwan goes , are you landing in Newark, then I said yes, then he said I want to suggest something better than the Hilton on 6th Ave, I suggest the Short Hills Hotel in short hills NJ, he said it is the best Hilton in the north east. So I said OK, and he said to call the West Orange Manner and make reservation for a dinner, and he told my wife to call Bloomingdale's to send her a limo to go shopping at short hills mall. We did everything he said, and it was as he explained it and a little more.
Radwan told me that the Waldorf Astoria wasn't build to be another Hotel; it was build to be the Hotel when it comes to the best service that there is.
I have seen so many hospitality employees but with the knowledge that Radwan has, about the history of the hotel, surrounding area, the food , loyalty and t respect that he gives his job never seen before.

A very old Jerusalem Edifice was selected as the site where the new Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem Hotel was to be build, on condition that the outside of the original construction shall remain intact. Therefore, before discussing the attributes of the Waldorf Astoria, Jerusalem Hotel, it should be mentioned first that the building itself is as an architectural achievement. The interior of the Hotel is very beautiful and very modern while the exterior preserved unharmed the old building facade.
In addition to the qualities expected of a five stars hotel regarding location ( in the new luxury center of Jerusalem close to the old city ); service (the staff is very young and very eager to help even if not fully experienced yet to answer all questions) and atmosphere (which is luxurious and relaxing from the moment you enter the hotel because in the reception hall , there are three fountains and a pleasant coffee and light dining area). the swimming pool ans Spa are not finished yet. . i live in Jerusalem and instead of travelling far , i treated myself with a short vacation at the Waldorf and did not regret my choice.

Like no other hotel I've ever stayed in with regards to the service and treatment by the entire staff. The most luxurious bathrooms and hi tech meets Old Jerusalem architecture. The hotel is situated in the best location near the Old City and Mamila Mall.

I recently stayed here for four days. The location is excellent right across the road from the old city. They have done a lovely job with the interior. Classic high luxury but very tasteful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice. Extremely comfortable beds. The breakfast is FABULOUS. The only thing the hotel lacks that I would have loved is an outdoor pool. They are getting an indoor pool and a spa and gym within the next year but these aren't open yet (I am writing in July 2014). For now there was a small temporary gym which was perfectly adequate however I am sure the new gym will be bigger and more elaborately equipped.
I recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxury place to stay near the old city of Jerusalem.
