“Something special.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2012

Although not a deli the style I am used to as in Amsterdam or any European city This gem is a wonderful find in Jerusalem.
Family (7th generation since 1795), personal touch and a warm welcome and service are elements I appreciate. Also the best sauerkraut or choucroute ever tasted. And I tasted several styles in Switzerland, the US and even in South Africa. This deli serves a wide assortment of home made sausage, dried meat and soups + matza balls.

For 2nd I chose the "royal choucroute garnie platte" the platter comes with sauerkraut and potato salad (fabulous as well) and costs NIS 168. Served with crusty bread. The Swiss sausage especially tastes great with a pint of Goldstar Israeli dark lager beer. Also the Italian style salami is one of the best ever tasted.
Also duck and lamb dishes are fantastic but maybe a bit to much if you already enjoyed the soup and sausages.

As I read that the owner plans to organise a beer festival in the summer I can only welcome this sign of forward looking attitude of the owner. I need to come back to Jerusalem, that's for sure.

+ good food, personal touch and easy to find location. Not to crowded area a bit of the high street.
- As mentioned by other reviewers, this is not a cheap place to eat. But certainly not expensive and price-quality is OK.

Tip: Taste the Israeli wines as well! First time I tasted the wines from Israel and they are really good. Full, round and fruity wines. Good with meat.

“An old fashioned deli”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2012

All kosher sausages and pates along with traditional smoked meats and fish make this a great stop before a picnic. Don't expect to find a New York style deli with mile high corned beef sandwiches on rye, but what you get you will thoroughly enjoy

“not up to its hype”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2011

It was rumored to be the best deli restaurant. Sorry I didn't find it so. The food was both expensive and not to the quality that I have experienced in other cities. Simply forgetfull.
