“Jerusalem's melting pot”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Visit the vibrant and pulsating Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, especially on Friday mornings, and you will find amazed how the "cacophony" of different languages turn into music. The colors, sights and smells beckon. Restaurants have sprouted offering the taste buds specialties from different countries. The Mahane Yehuda market also offers something for the night owls. There are several bars to choose from. Come and see for yourself the beauty of Mahane Yehuda, all day and all night long.

“Just fun”
Reviewed 22 November 2013 via mobile

In the states it might be referred to as a farmers market (no farmers here)

Meats, veggies, home stuff, sweets, smells, restrauants,

Easy to spend a couple of hours here

The light rail runs just by the market, so parking is not an issue - just park elsewhere and take the rail to the market

“Tasty night life”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

I couldn’t believe it’s the town I know. midnight and people are only starting to get out?is this a new Jerusalem syndrome? especially in the vibrant "Shuk"=market ,that has a cool new (relatively) night scene. more than 250 vendors that offer their fresh goods during all days of week, are partly opened, into the hours of late night birds. Cafes and restaurants serve till the last visitor.
Some of the stalls becomes a D.J position. bars and pubs were open to give some alcohol options. The average age is "first degree" students, but I could notice also some grey munes,in some of the tables. Only at night it's possible to notice, the graffiti and some artworks decorating doors, walls, concrete surfaces, and some deserted areas. that were part of a big artistic project in 2011, that supported a facelift to the market.
to be frank, this attraction was revealed to me, by the best tourist guide of Jerusalem, Pnina Ein Mor. She has a 3 hours bas tour, every weekend to discover the "holy" night life. She does it also in English. You can find more details in her website of "ein kerem legend". This market, is a must visit ,to any tourist, who wants to see the real blend of Jerusalem. Religious Jews, hippies, Arabs, tourists, fancy people and hard workers. buzzing network of vending stalls, to satisfy all tastes. In summer time, the nights are welcoming with some performances, workshops, video art, dancers etc. but you can be lucky, to have them also by chance. Try this place, that has no relative elsewhere in the world.

“Obsessed!”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

This is a must go while in Jerusalem! Incredible things to see, eat, buy and take home with you. You must go to Halva Kingdom. It is the best halva anywhere! I am sorry that i didn't know about this place in advance of this trip as I would've taken a tour. I only wish they'd ship some of their products to the US as we can't get dried fruits and nuts like that here. Visit the market website for more information. Lots of great, cool, hip restaurants and bars here too.

“Great place to sample local products”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

Easy to get to from Jaffa Gate. Either a walk along Jaffa Str (follow the tram lines) - takes about half hour- or take a tram and stop at 3rd station.good to go around lunch or evening as there are lots of little cafes to eat at. Ima's Kurdish food was great.

Loved sampling before buying. Fantastic for dates and local Israeli spices. You can buy as much or as little as you want. Just say 10 shekels and he will give you that amount. I bought spices and he sealed packed for me.
