We stayed here last month for three days and absolutely loved it. From the moment you enter the hotel. You feel welcomed. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was delicious they even offered to make us omeletts. The rooms were beautiful the bed two singles together was very comfortable good location we walked into the main central part of the city each day and it only took 20 minutes you have train station near the hotel.

We spent 6 nights at the Jerusalem Gate hotel, 4 with a tour and 2 on our own. It was better than expected from reading reviews, but it is still an average hotel with some good and some not so good features. The rooms are small but they were clean each day. The food was good and there was a good variety of choices. We never went away hungry. The staff was pleasant, but then we did not have any real concerns with accommodations. There is no wifi and that was a downer. We went downstairs to the mall and was able to get wifi, but it was not always easy to connect. It is a busy hotel with lots of tour groups, but we found it interesting watching all the different people. The location is good for the bus and light rail, but a bit of walk to the Old City. Average, but better than expected!!!

There were 22 of us in the group and started our Holy Land tour stay at this hotel. We stayed 4 nights. The first night the dinner was good. After that the next couple of days which was the weekend, the food went downhill as no cooking was being done, and it was the same food Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You had to ask for utensils, plates, cups, glasses etc.

Apart from one of the night managers and some of the dining staff, the others were miserable and not very friendly. For such a big hotel, you would think the staff would have been much more friendlier and courteous.

It seems to be at a very convenient location, as the train station was opposite the hotel. There were stores around and it was quite busy at night. We had to really walk about looking to buy some wine or liquor.

This hotel caters to large groups who are under the care of a tour guide. The staff has no interest in the customers who are there to be processed like cattle. The rooms are small and the beds are smaller. My room seemed clean. The shower sort of worked. The breakfast was OK. No free wifi. Three small elevators to get into and out of the hotel. Driving to the hotel, if you not on a tour bus, is an ordeal I would wish on my worst enemy if I had one. I made a mistake by booking here. Maybe this review will help you not to make the same mistake.

We stayed here during our Holyland tour, it shocked me on how the staffs treat us. It was like as if we are beggars who plead to stay at the hotel, the room was dirty and old. At this time of the world, when every hotels and cafes in Israel gave their customers a free wifi, this hotel choose to charge an expensive price for internet.

Breakfast was terrible, coffee and tea spills all over the place. The selections is close to none, and the elevators were very slow and making lines up until the front office.

I urge everyone not to go to this hotel, kindly do your research first since there a lot of other hotels that beats them in any categories.

Room Tip: No good rooms in here, its just that bad

We stayed at this hotel in November/2013. Nice, clean and very good location. Walking distance to shopping center and restaurants. Breakfasts gets a little busy as every guest is trying to leave early. Food is good. We will recommend it.

Room Tip: excellent location to walk and explore a little of the city.

This hotel is big and impressive with a big lobby but there are problems with the attitude of the staff.
The porters were OK and check in was easy.
The rooms were big and clean. There was a TV but no safe.
The problems were generally with the restaurant staff who totally ignored the clients. At breakfast time the food was not replenished quickly enough and most of the time the coffee machines didn't work. Everything was laid haphazardly. At other meal times, attracting the attention of the rude waiters (to find a table) was difficult.
The reception was unhelpful and quite often unmanned.
However, the hotel is in a good location: There is a big shopping area and restaurants in the basement but not part of the hotel. There were also money changing facilities.
The hotel itself is located in a central place and very close to the Central Bus Station, the Jerusalem Light Railway and the Post Office.
There are a number of ATMs and fast food outlets on the nearby Jaffa Street.
All in all a convenient hotel but the staffing should be better.
