Stayed here in summer 2012 for 5 nights, and due to be staying again next week. Great service throughout, from the reception to room service to breakfast and pool. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was plentiful, varied and delicious. Glad to hear that there is free wifi in the lobby now. Good location - just a 15 minute stroll into the Old City. Pool is lovely.

Was there for three nights two weeks ago and was entirely charmed by it. It's located in a charming 19th century building and has wonderful views. Quaint but up to date interiors, with a comfortable lobby where you have access to free wifi. Good breakfast buffets and a clean, refreshing pool. Friendly, helpful staff. Would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We were fortunate to have a room with a quiet, private balcony. Wonderful for listening to the wind...

We stayed at the Mount Zion Hotel for 7 nights at the beginning of June, 2013. This hotel was not my first choice but with hindsight, it WAS the prefect choice. As I am familiar with Jerusalem, I had preferred a hotel where I have stayed before but in planning the trip my companion read that the Mount Zion was in a converted old world building with great views. My concern was that the hotel was a bit out of the way but my companion prevailed.
The hotel is located across a valley from Mount Zion and the Old City. It is literally walking distance from the fabled Jaffa Gate but also just a few blocks in the other direction to the “Tachana” (the newly renovated train station from the Ottoman era railway which now houses restaurants, shops and is a nightlife destination). In any event, as taxis are inexpensive and the best way to get around the city, we never felt far from anything.
When you enter the hotel, you are overwhelmed by the postcard view of Mount Zion and the Old City walls across the lobby through large picture windows. That is the same view we had from our room, a double Citadel room (two spacious adjoining rooms, one a bedroom with a king bed and the other a living area, plus two bathrooms). We were there just before high season and paid about $2,200 for seven nights.
The room service and buffet dinners in the hotel restaurant were very good with decent selections. At the end of a long day of touring this was a satisfactory and convenient alternative to a restaurant dinner.
The hotel itself is fully modern but, as it is a renovated building over 130 years old, has the true grace and feel of the middle east with its stone archways and the decor is gracious and comfortable, not cold. At every moment we knew we were in Jerusalem, not just another modern hotel that could have been in any city. Also, we took our breakfasts out onto the large veranda again overlooking Mount Zion.
For us, the hotel itself was a very memorable part of the Jerusalem experience.
I definitely recommend this hotel.

We had a great vacation at the hotel, with beautiful room and view, friendly and efficient staff, and attractive grounds and swimming pool! The room overlooked the old city of Jerusalem, the Kidron valley, and Mount Zion, and was spacious and luxurious. The hotel is clean with many attractive object and art. The pool is cool and refreshing, clean and well maintained, a welcome escape from the heat and the city. Location is close to everything...

Room Tip: The view is worth it!

We had 2 adjoining rooms for my wife and my 13 and 11 year old. We also had about 7-8 rooms for guests who were coming for my sons Bar Mitzvah at the overlook of Jerusalem.

At $240/night per room- well worth it. The parking is free, the breakfast amazing, The pool refreshing-- the new renovated old train station is now filled with restaurants and is walkable as is the german colony. The walk to the old city is about 25 minuets- and go walk through Yemin Moshe and the windmill area and it is absolutely breathtaking........this hotel is a bit far out from downtown- about a $10 cab ride- and a bit far to walk but it can be done. definitely the hotel is not the center of the action- but its a nice respite from the busy downtown and the bustle of the old city....and it has the modern comforts but the artistry and the feeling of old style hotel from the middle east- was absolutely wonderful and a big respite from traditional cookie cutter hotels!!Pictures from the balcony where we ate breakfast- amazing!

We recently spent five nights at the Mount Zion and were generally pleased. My wife and I and two children were all in one room which was sized nicely (two roll-away beds were brought in). There is definitely a wide variety of rooms here: ours was fairly basic although we did have a nice view from the one small window; my sister ended up in what was deemed a "villa" with a giant soaking tub, stone walls and her own courtyard! The breakfasts were off-the-charts good with a huge variety of options, made-to-order eggs and waffles, a self-serve orange juicer (huge fun for the kids) and cappuccino on demand. The lobby bar, although small, was nice. The pool and spa are really unique here--the pool was very large and attractive with food service and drink service. The Turkish bath was definitely worth visiting as well. There is a hot tub but it is very small and barely holds two people. The lifeguards at the pool were great and did a nice job of managing all the kids and keeping things safe. Service at the pool area was sporadic--some days no one was staffing the kiosk and other days, they had several staffers. There was an odd odor down towards the kiddie pool which was constantly noticeable. Don't miss the courtyard next to the pool with grapes growing up the walls and stunning views of the Old City. The walk to Old City is also close and easy. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Mount Zion Hotel is a historic property made of the beautiful white Jerusalem stones you see all over the city. The lobby is so comfy, and has such a stunning view, that we spent a great deal of time sitting there sipping the complimentary mint water (and using the free WiFi). The rooms had all you'd need, the pool is beautiful with shaded seats, and the hot tub is divine. There is also a Turkish bath; we weren't quite sure what's so great about a Turkish bath, but the facility is beautiful and worth a try just for the experience. Also, the breakfast is absolutely phenomenal. The Jaffa Gate to Old City is a short walk away, as is, in another direction, a neighborhood with several decent restaurants.
