Leonardo Plaza Hotel Jerusalem

Duration of stay-3 nights, hotel was very clean, very spacious, state of the art elevator to speed guest to rooms, common areas , no balcony only window that opens parially, mini bar fridge in room, not like other hotels that had mini fridge that was very convenient to keep bottled watter and sodas, etc in, certrally located to grocery stores and shopping at new Mamila
shopping district, very close to Jaffa Gate to Old city of Jerusalem, food excellent however choices were the same every nite with little to no variation no mention of ice machines, like a hidden secret, didnt know there was one until second day when spotted guest with ice bucket
and asked where a guest could get ice and then had to use coffee carafe for ice since no ice buckets stayed in room 517, and on first night and second night after returning from dinner
bathroom floor was soaked as well as counter top, walls, toilet wet with splattering and dripping water from A/C unit in ceiling above bathroom called maintenance and they were prompt
it responding to issues of clogged and leaking line above bathroom area, and after taking out panel in ceiling fixed the problem, but had the issues two out of three nights and then housekeeping had to come and clean the bathroom again but once i had to deal with the problem noticed that the ceiling was discolored from previous issues the Spa was absolutely poorly maintained and poorly supervised- The DUO Spa
the massage therapist did an above average job, i had the hot stone treatment and i usually fall asleep and had anticipated do so since i was extremely tired
after being on tour for 8 days, she dropped the stones on the treatment floor a couple time and was loud with the stones, the sink of which she had to work was of the material that everytime
she put the stones in it it was very loud, not her fault, it is what she had to work with , no aroma of treatment room or ambiance of music like i have experienced in treatment rooms at spas everywhere i had been, and that is domestic in the U.S and internationally she spoke no English so had to have the receptionist translate and that worked out fine but treatment room had no bathrobe or even towel for me to wrap around and then to step from treatment room to shower area, had to wrap treatment table sheet around me to walk from treatment room to shower no slippers were provided, however i know the spa had some because there were three wet pairs just lying here and there in floor of shower area, no towels in shower area, had to ask the therapist for one and thankfully she understood enough to find me a clean towel, the shower area had black shoe
prints and black foot prints all along the cream colored floor, long hair everywhere in floor, in shower area, so much it caught my attention right away very apparent that the shower area had not been cleaned in hours or even all day , extremely unclean, no products on vanity in shower area such as lotion, or hair products that i find in every spa i have ever attended waiting area was two upright chairs along a wall in a hallway that connected the fitness room/spa reception desk to treatment rooms
the ambiance was non-existent as a spa atmosphere, it was like a spa idea had just been thrown together, would give the spa itself a 1 on a scale of 10 and the therapist a 7 on a scale of 10 so would discourage anyone from spending money on a spa treatment there.

We had 2 rooms for 6 days
Disappointed in the hotel
Nice lobby and helpful front desk (Elliott)
Good breakfast buffet (huge)

But Biggest issues
- window cover didn't actually cover window so woke up every morning at sun rise
- lots of confusion with staff about hours for the pool and gym
- pool opened at 9 and closed at 5 - hard to use if you are out touring for the day
- expensive hotel but charges for Internet access (we convinced them to give us 2 passes per day)

Just got back from a visit to Jerusalem where I stayed at the Leonardo Plaza. It is a fine hotel with a great location. The photos I took from the balcony on the 21st floor are a breathtaking reminder of my visit. The room was clean and recently renovated.
The staff was the friendliest of any of the hotels I stayed at. They really made me feel at home. The breakfast buffet was rich and varied and the meal at the Primavera was a culinary treat.
I highly recommend this hotel based on its location, service, and reasonable price.

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor with an Old City view

Not bad but not great. I have given these questions an average mark. It's somewhat bland and whilst the staff are friendly enough, they seem to know little of what happens outside the confines of the hotel, e.g. what time does public transport stop on the Friday and where can we have a hot meal on the Sabbath. Also beware of the cleaning staff who are in operation early in the morning and very keen to get on with their job.As another reviewer said, try and avoid the Sabbath because of the restrictions on what you can eat and drink on that day (obviously not the Hotel's fault).Prices for food and drink in the hotel are reasonable.

Room Tip: We had a room on the top floor which is great but make sure you use the 'non Sabbath' lift o...

This is a mainstay Jerusalem hotel populated mostly by foreigners. The rooms are clean and spacious, the location is excellent, breakfast is delicious but they they are incredibly stingy on amenities. $25 per day for wifi when it is free all over the city of Jerusalem? Seems silly to nickel and dime on details like that and takes away from the relaxation of the experience.

The hotel is literally opposite the Anglican cathedral and less than a ten minute walk from the Damascus Gate and the Old Town but, other than at, there was little to recommend about this hotel. If travelling in a group, I would recommend avoiding staring or finishing your stay on a Saturday; although the lift has four elevators, two of them are programmed to stop on every floor on Saturday for religious reasons, and the remaining two lifts get very crowded when large groups are moving. When we arrived (on a Saturday), one of the lifts was out of order entirely, and so getting our luggage into our rooms was very hectic; porterage was an option, but was very slow to arrive. Staff at reception were very variable; most were acceptably helpful, but one man in particular was extremely rude and apathetic. The internet at the hotel was phenomenally expensive and, although they offer half an hour free internet to each guest, you need to know this to ask for it specifically because they don't seem to like telling guests about it. We often returned to the room to find our towels folded in the bathroom as if they had been washed, but soaking wet, and we have strong suspicions that a can of drink may have been taken from our room. The hot breakfast was bizarre, although the continental options were ok, and the dinners available were average; there was a good variety, but nothing was particularly appetising. In general, wouldn't recommend this hotel other than as a convenient base from which to see the Old City.

Lovely atmosphere, wonderful people, great breaksfast buffet! They even stock Gluten Free breads and cakes. You can really get the flavor of the Holy City when you stay here. It's a religous hotel, but anyone can feel comfortable. It feels like Jerusalem. They took great care of me.
