Good sleep quality in nice but tired room

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Jun 2019via mobile
Enjoyed good sleep quality in a spacious Club room but it was very much showing it’s age, verging on shabby.

The old style keycard room entry system failed twice so this too needs to be modernised.

The buffet breakfast was alright but no better as the selections are not as good as some competitor hotels

We stayed at Leonardo Plaza Hotel Jerusalem for June 3-12 and it was a very nice stay. The room is clean and spacious, airconditioning is in good condition and the whole hotel smells heavenly when you enter. RONIT was amazing and she will help her guests with anything! BAR at the reception and SAMEH in the kitchen were always very helpful too and were very delightful to see everyday. Everyone at the concierge were very helpful and friendly also. They will go out of their way to help their guests and will stop at nothing to make their guests feel comfortable. The food was also amazing with lots of options everyday. It’s amazing to stay here especially for Shabbat and holidays because they have the perfect Shabbat and Chag services!

Recently spent two very pleasant weeks at Leonardo Plaza . The hotel has two exceptional features . First is location there is none better in Jerusalem .It is centrally located and within walking distance of the Old city , Mamilla mall ,Ben Yehuda St.,Great Synagogue and other places of interest.
The second distinguishing feature is its helpful staff . I would like to make special mention of Ms. Ronit in Customer Relations who does her utmost to insure that your stay is the best it can be. I would also like to thank Mr Yousef and Mr Utman of the dining room, Mr.Odeh in reception and Mr. Someach. the "coffee man" for making our stay a wonderful experience.

Room tip: We stayed on quiet floor with balcony and nice view of Jerusalem

We booked this hotel for one night and ended up pretty unimpressed with this place in every way. I will start with the positives of this hotel.
1. The location is incredibly central to the market, parks, and Old City.
2. Our rate included breakfast which was comprised of a pretty impressive buffet with lots of standard and kosher treats.

Unfortunately that was where the positive aspects of the hotel ended. On the negative side we had several issues.
1. We specifically made a reservation for a room that had two beds. The original reservation request was revised to include this request. We even called the hotel twice before arriving to make sure this was the case and were assured that this was confirmed. When we arrived, staff insisted that we were mistaken and the reservation was for a single King Sized and begrudging gave us another room.
2. When we got to our room, it was filthy and we had to move the beds apart ourselves to create two beds. The room appeared unvacuumed as we found crumbs and chips on the carpet and in between the beds.
3. When I pointed this out to staff, they gave us another room equally as unclean with a furniture we had to again move ourselves.
4. The facilities are extremely dated and in dire need of refreshing. This hotel is definitely not five star status, no matter how many signs they post stating that.
5. Staff was really the worst part of this hotel. Most were extremely cold and not warm or courteous. When we arrived late at night, we received nothing but uninterested stares from EVERYBODY on staff. Super unfriendly. Bell staff and ignored us when we first asked for help and then made us look for our own baggage when we stored it.
7. I highlighted my concerns at check out and was offered a passing free lunch in the lobby despite it being clear we were leaving at that time. Didn't feel like we got much attention or concern on the quality of our stay.

I have to say we really felt unwelcome at this hotel and glad we only stayed a night. Definitely not recommending this place for people to enjoy Jerusalem.

We were part of a group travelling through Israel for two weeks. This was one of our favorite hotels. The rooms were spacious and well laid out. We initial had a problem with the electrical in our room. It was fixed within 15 minute of us calling the front desk. The dinner & breakfast was buffet style and was freshly cooked and a nice selection. We would go back there just for the good food and service. The hotel was within walking distance of the US Embassy and a major upscale shopping center, independence park and more, We had a early morning departure the day we left and they made sure there was enough staff to cover our needs. The hotel had a lovely family owned jewelry store with beautifully hand crafted jewelry. At good prices, and a warm and endearing family. After seeing so much jewelry and many of it overpriced and not well made it was a treat to shop and purchase some quality jewelry.
We will definitely try to return on our next trip the Jerusalem

We recently spent 3 weeks in a junior suite. While staff was especially attentive and responsive, special mention should be made of Ronit and Bar from Guest Services, Samich and Marwan in the dining room, and Moshe who portered for us. Each of them was, as appropriate, kind, friendly, efficient and very professional, in a manner that went well beyond what one normally expects. In very short order, each of them knew who we were for which we continue to say "thank you". Ronit is certainly a gem and obviously she's had an effect on other staff as well. The hotel is extremely well situated with wonderful views and seems genuinely concerned about the welfare and comfort of its guests. The food was wonderful. A guest should, however, be prepared to exercise "caution" in the dining room, lest they gain 5 kg.(or more) without realizing it. A wonderful stay aided in no small part by wonderful people, always there to help. Our suggestion: Do not hesitate to get in touch with Guest Services before your stay for that extra touch.

Room tip: Request a room with a balcony on a higher floors especially toward the Old City. Get breakfasts included; they are a sumptuous buffet.
