“They just don't care”
Reviewed 4 June 2011

This hotel is a somewhat typical example in a country of bad hotels. The facility is reasonable, but the management, the staffing, the caring, and the working of things leaves so much to be desired. The attitude towards customers is negative and neglecting. WiFi costs money, and is still VERY UNRELIABLE or not working at all; unfortunately, the hotel does not appear to really care; not their.responsibility..

The location at the 'entrance' to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv is convenient. This is a typical tour group hotel, suited to bus-loads of ignorant masses. The breakfast buffet was quite adequate, thou.

One of the worst hotels I´ve ever been... and I do travel a lot. All started with double bookings which they apparently could not cancel. We ended up canceling them ourselves. Then began the circus with the internet. During the whole stay they could not make the internet work... and were continuously blaming us for being incompetent users. We are IT professionals! My laundry was lost and found during the check-out process and finally they lost our luggage... Stay away from this hellhole!

After sleeping in a Bedouin tent the night before, we arrived in at Jerusalem Gold around 5:00PM. Earlier in the day we had hiked Mount Masada, visited the waterfalls and swam in the dead sea. Admittedly, we just wanted to get up to our rooms, take a shower and a nap. That however, was not an option. We were told that the room was not ready. Then we come to find out that the people who had stayed in the room had somehow left their bags and were coming cross town to get them. Who knows what the truth was? All I know is that I was forced to wait in the lobby for over 40 minutes while the concierge treated me like a flea, becoming increasing more obnoxious with the passing minutes.

After we finally get into our room, there is a single dirty towel and used soap in the bathroom. After multiple calls to the front desk and then coming down for dinner and pounding my fist on the desk, yelling, 'Ze lo Habaya Sheli, Aval Achshav, Ani HaBaya Shelcha' ("this is not my problem, but now I am your problem"... and yes, I do speak enough Hebrew to get by, so this was not a language issue) we finally find a bag hanging on the outside door knob of our room with some towels and shampoo.

That was my experience, and as far as I heard from other guests, it was not an isolated one. Also, another guest awoke on successive nights with more ichty red welts than the night before (these started the first morning of her stay). The final night we were there, she turned over the bed and shook out her pillows to find bugs (bedbugs, most definitely).

We recently stayed at this hotel overnight with our three young children. We booked the room last minute and were reasonably pleased. We reserved a family room which consisted of two very small connecting rooms. The rooms were clean. The bathrooms while clean can use a bit of an update.Breakfast was ok nothing great. This hotel is a 25 minute walk to Ben yehuda street. I t is at the entrance to Jerusalem and away from all the major attractions. Be prepared to take some cab rides. The staff at the hotel were super friendly and eager to help with directions and advice.

Not the ideal place to stay. Although the manager seems to be trying to deliver a fair product, it seems her efforts are less than successful.
Cleaning staff are overworked; for example, clean towels were not available until late in the afternoon. Staff had to return a couple of times to deliver face cloths, then towels, then soap/shampoo! Organization seems to be lacking.
Room was only adequate. Could have used a thorough vacuuming. Didn't want to step on the carpet as it seemed grimy.
Safe never did work although it was reported to front desk.

Room Tip: Lower floors seem to be affected by street noises

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean, the rooms & beds are exceptional. I cannot say enough about how delicious the food is. I have stayed in several hotels in Jerusalem over the years and this is, by far, our best experience.

The Jerusalem Gold Hotel, not to be confused with the larger Jerusalem Gate Hotel right next door, is the place to rest your weary body after a long day of sightseeing. The rooms are cozy, comfortable, and clean. The food is delicious, best tuna fish salad I've ever had, and the freshest salads. The best part of the hotel, however, is Ariela and her staff, who try to make each and every visitor feel special. If there is a problem, even if not related to the hotel, Ariela will act upon it quickly and efficiently. I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation.
