“Oriental style with landscaped grounds and terrace”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

I stayed here for 4 nights as apart of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and what a lovely place to stay. The key to maximum enjoyable is to get a room overlooking the City of Jerusalem which is facing south so offers prime views. We were lucky as we were allocated with a balcony which overlooked not just the city but a very pleasant open air lounge area where you could take a drink and read or simply relax enjoying in particular the Dome of the Rock and Al Aksa Mosque. The dining room was flooded with light and although, as usual a buffet offered, it was good, fresh, diverse and frequently replenished. The Staff were friendly and service good. If adventurous enough you can walk down to the old City Walls, the road signs are incomprehensible but just follow your nose and it takes about 10 minutes. For a "tour hotel" this was well above average.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the City for wonderful views and warmy sunny aspect.

This hotel offers nice rooms with balcony and a nice variety of restaurants.
Great food and very fast speed free wi-fi are the highlights of this hotel.
The general ventilation system operating outside the hotel causes too much noise that can be heard in the room. the noise was constant during my stay.

I've stayed at the Ambassador a number of times over the years, and having just returned from a nine-night visit, I can say it only gets better. Since the12-room full-time block reservation occupied by Tony Blair's Quartet mission for at least three years until a year or two ago, the American Colony down the road seems to have lost its buzz - and it's now to be found at the Ambassador, which has a nice big open bar area, restaurant and terrace, blessed with great views. Being on the edge of Shaikh Jarrah makes it very convenient for going to the West Bank. The rooms are big and comfortable, the wifi is free and fast, and the breakfast good. Ask for a room with a view and balcony. The standout feature is the staff, who are without exception courteous, efficient, helpful and welcoming. This is not a super luxury five star hotel, but with mid-range prices it is superb value. It also has a good fitness room - much better than its main East Jerusalem competitor in this price bracket, the Legacy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and balcony

Stayed there for few days on business, its clean and comfortable and the meals are good. Nice terrace to dine drink or have meetings taking in the sounds of bustling Jerusalem. Its really geared up for coach tour guests so be advised. The old city is a walking distance away making it a good location for exploring all there is to see in Jerusalem. Its not cheap but you could pay much more and not get as much.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the City, the view is great.

Stayed four days while on pilgrimage in hot days cool nights mid-March. Not too large, and groups can be fed apart from other guests, though groups can monopolise the verdanda and bar. Food is varied and fine, though nothing particularly special. Bar drinks (tea/coffee, soft and alcoholic) are pleasant but more costly than other hotels visited. No kettles in room, but large TV and safe. We would return for reliability and location.

Room Tip: Two mini-markets nearby for mixers if you want to use your duty free in your room. Steps in front of...

I have stayed at the "Ambassador" many times since 2002. The service has continuously improved, the rooms (if you get one facing the city - i.e. to the South) are wonderful. Spacious and with good working space. WiFi is excellent. Easy walking to Damascus Gate and the Old City - past settlers and along non-maintained East-Jerusalem infrastructure (which would be normal...) Staff tends to be a bit arrogant of late - "The Ambassador" has become a landmark especially for "Donors" and religious tour groups. Summary: very acceptable (if the price is okay for you!)

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room "facing the old city and with a balcony"

I had a pleasant, spacious room with a balcony, decent bathroom and good wifi. The staff is friendly, helpful and more attentive than in some posher hotels in the area. Location is quite central to E. Jerusalem, near the old town walls. It's also safe to walk around at night (take your ID).
The room was really cold but apparently this could have been fixed - note to self - ask next time!
Breakfast is fine - not sumptuous but adequate and some nice local food.

The one downside is the lack of any coffee/tea making in the bedroom. It's pretty standard, these days.

Room Tip: There are big rooms so if you're offered a smaller one, ask.
