Excellent hotel with exceptional location! Overlooking the old city, walking distance to the Wall, next to Mamilla Mall, easy walk to center of town - perfect! We stayed here in January 2014. Beautiful, comfortable, attentive staff. Superb restaurant - Scala - ate there twice it was sooo good! Had trouble connecting to Wi-Fi - they said it was being upgraded. & the executive lounge was just satisfactory - much better at the Inbal! Very nice spa - had a wonderful massage & manicure - lovely!

Room Tip: We had a room facing the old city.......perfect!

I usually stay at the David Citadel and have been coming here annually for the past 10 years. The staff is friendly and attentive and it is a welcome experience from the moment that you check in. The views of the Old City are incomparable and breathtaking. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with an expansive selection and the waitstaff was highly attentive to all my needs especially Said, who was always at my table with a coffee refill or available to bring me anything I desired. The new executive lounge is larger and more comfortable than its predecessor with a wide array of food and beverage choices throughout the day. The only drawback to the new executive lounge location is the loss of the spectacular view of the Old City that you had from the prior 10th floor location. Based on its location, room sizes, amenities and friendly courteous staff I find the David Citadel to be the best place to stay in Jerusalem.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the pool. The views of the Old City are breathtaking and not to be mi...

This was my first time actually staying in the hotel after having visited a number of times. It has a wonderful scent as you walk in, which is a lovely feature after having been in the hot israeli sun all day! The staff are all very friendly and helpful, the lobby is very bright and contemporary. Breakfast is lovely, and you can sit on the terrace facing the old city which is beautiful. One downside is the pool area is quite cramped compared to King David which has extensive gardens but then again, you can't have everything! The rooms are comfortable and have all the necessary amenities. They are not overly decorated but our room had a great view of the pool and Old City.
Overall, a great stay! Definitely one of the better 'Israeli' hotels!!

I enjoyed a truly wonderful stay here several years ago. Among other positives (location beyond compare) I remember how great the food was.
So I booked a 4 night stay during a recent convention in Jerusalem. The location of course is a constant and wonderful plus. As is the pool and view of the old city walls.
I was however somehwat disappointed in my room. It was comforrtable and clean, but really doesn't match up to the other 5 star hotels in its immediate vicinity. The breakfast food is still very good, but the Waldorf takes it to another level.
Service is rather uneven- never polished, usually helpful and cheerful; like other places in Israel.
I would stay here again, but only if it was considerably less expensive than the new Waldorf or the Mamilla (though I haven't seen the rooms there).

Room Tip: A view of the old city walls if you can afford it!

David Citadel, a stone's throw to the Old City, is a traveler's oasis. For an American traveler accustomed to amenities and excellent service, this hotel doesn't disappoint. The lobby welcomes travelers from all over the world with dignity and a blast of cold air on a hot day. Up a flight of stairs is a wide-open and welcoming bar and restaurant. Views of the Old City draw guests in and enjoy the food, the service, and the experience. Daily breakfast is a feast for a variety of appetites. The buffet is a mix of traditional and middle-eastern fare that will satisfy any taste or appetite. The rooms are excellent. The views are beautiful and the amenities make returning to the hotel after a day of sight-seeing part of the joy of being in Israel. Our room attendant was outstanding. We shared short conversations in Hebrew and became familiar enough so that after 5 days he knew our needs and helped out without delay. This is the hotel to book. It's close to everything and it never fails to meet and exceed expectations.

Room Tip: Spring for the view of the Old City. It's worth it for many reasons.

This was our first trip to Israel and our first hotel was the David Citadel. The check in process was easy and fast after a LONG day (and a half) of travel. Our rooms were clean, lovely views of the Jaffa Gate out our windows, and the beds were quite comfortable. We had two rooms that were adjoining as we were traveling with our children and the only issue we had was that when we checked in, the door between the rooms was locked. No big deal and they came up right away after we called down and they unlocked the door.

The location of the hotel is total PERFECTION! Across the street from the Mamilla Mall, a 24 hr market just up the street, Independence Park, restaurants (especially Ben- Sira - BEST falafel!), and walking distance to the Old City, the market on Ben Yehuda Street, and the Great Synagogue.

The concierge staff was very helpful in finding restaurants for us. We never had to wait to talk to someone at the concierge desk or at the front desk.

The breakfasts in the morning were out of this world! The food was superb - TONS of options for Israeli salads, eggs, breads, fruit ... a total cornucopia of foods! The staff was just "meh" except for Samir. He was incredibly sweet, so friendly, and anticipated everything we needed from the first day we got there! He was so kind and so lovely! We love Samir! Unfortunately, he had the day off on our last day there and the waitstaff was not even close to his level of service. We had to ask repeatedly for coffee, water, juice for the kids. Not at all attentive or helpful and after our experience with Samir, we were a little disappointed. No big deal, again, but after knowing how great it can be, it was kind of a let down.

Overall, our experience at this hotel was lovely and we would definitely stay there again given the opportunity.

Room Tip: We were on the East side of the building on the 6th floor and our views were lovely. The adjoining...

what a professional staff and beautiful hotel, when you need anything from the reception, ask for Elias, he will never let you down.. when you need a good service ask for the waiter sai'd, he is always heĺpful. Choose the alcove deluxe rooms in the center. It has been a pleasure for me staying in this hotel for my 1st time, I will definitely be back!!
