David Citadel Hotel
Ranked #14 of 100 Hotels in Jerusalem
Reviewed 14 January 2010

David Citadel is CENTRALLY located right in the middle of Jerusalem. You can walk anywhere since it is close proximity within the old city, the mall and all the great restaurants that Jerusalem has to offer. There is not another hotel that comes close to the David Citadel.

The buffet breakfast was very good, we were a family of 6 and 2 were vegetarians. There was always something for all us to eat. The service at the hotel was impeccable. Ari at concierge (as well as the entire concierge staff) were not only helpful but remembered your name and it is NOT a small hotel. We were on the 10th floor and Alli made up our room every morning and delivered chocolates and extra towels as we requested ALWAYS WITH A SMILE.

One of my only dislikes worth mentioning is this: For a high priced 5 star hotel I was very thrown off by the fact that the gym was not inclusive with the cost of the hotel. My husband and I decided to use the gym and were told that we had to pay for the use. I'm not used to that.

There were a few dignitaries who stayed at the hotel while we were there and security was tight, also for anyone shabbat observant on Friday there are 2 of the 4 elevators that are "shabbat elevators". If you are NOT SHABBAT observant make sure you take the other 2 elevators (which are on the right side) otherwise it will take you a very long time to get to and from the lobby.

Lots of advice about navigating hotel, falafel spots and lots of bars and restaurants nearby...anyone want suggestions...feel free to contact me.

We paid $500/room but still got charged $17 extra for the internet daily – shameless! The furniture and décor are from the 1970s, and the breakfast buffet never changes (we stayed for 3 days); service is indifferent and slow. Good location, but not much else. No value.

We stayed for one night only at the Citadel Hotel.... The location is perfect for visiting the old city, the staff were very attentive, i get the feeling that this is a very well run hotel and things seem to run very well. I think it lacks a bit of personality and is very much like any 5* hotel wide areas of marble and sweeping staircase.
The one room suite we booked had a lovely terrace overlooking the old city, and the bathroom was a great size, my only complaint was that the bed was very uncomfortable and there was no socket's by the bed to plug in your computer and phones.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to explore the old city as its right on your doorstep

This was our second stay at the hotel and we were not disappointed.

The hotel is ideally located and close to great restaurants, shops and of course the old city.

The hotel pool is wonderful with views over the old city. The pool staff especially Ariel and Avishai were great ambassadors of the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and the pool was managed magnificently by Yossi.

Breakfasts could not be beaten and the restaurant was very well staffed and again very well managed by Mousser Qazz.

We had the misfortune to have lunch by the pool at the King David Hotel and the rude staff, poor service and average food confirmed that the David Citadel remains the best hotel in Jerusalem by a long way.

Best 5* hotel in Jerusalem. Would definately choose the David Citadel over King David. Everything is sparkling new and location can't be beat. Opt for a room with a terrace and an Old City/pool view.

My wife and I moved to the Citadel from another hotel and we had a great welcome and a great weekend!
It is in a walking distance from the old city and from other tourist areas
The service quick!
The service was execellent!
All the public areas and the room were very clean.
What was bothering was the fact that although the room rates are expensive (!), they charge you for extras such as gym, parking etc...
But the overall experience was great!
