“Clean hotel near Old City Jerusalem”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

Stayed at the King Solomon for 6 nights. It's in a good location if you're spending time in the old city (20 minute walk), and on a main road if you want public transport or cab.

Breakfast buffet was excellent, great variety.

Front desk staff was generally responsive, but if you're not insistent you will wait longer than you should.

Room was average, clean and comfortable, nothing spectacular about them.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road, can be very noisy.

The location is great, it was easy walk to the old city which is where we spent most of our time. The hotel itself was a let down. Everything is outdated by about 40 years, I felt like I was walking into the 70s! Harvest gold sinks, toilets, and showers and strange dark faux marble panelling greet you in the bathroom. The single fluorescent light in there does nothing to illuminate the horror show shower. The building may be the ugliest in Jerusalem and its strange architecture catches the wind so that you hear a screaming noise when there's more than a breeze. The carpets are worn and the decor is lacking. The pool is nice but small and the poolside atmosphere is anything but relaxing. I would definitely look elsewhere when looking for a four star experience.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. On arrival we were shown a room which overlooked the car park but they were very accommodating and put us on a higher floor with a view of the Old City. The room was very big, with a huge bed and good sized bathroom. There was a small balcony from which to admire the view and once the double glazed window was closed everything was very quiet. The hotel has all mod cons yet a comfortable old-fashioned feel to it. Breakfast was the usual Israeli style - salads and cheeses and fruit and yoghurt and cereals and everything in great abundance. The reception staff were extremely helpful and courteous and the doorman gave good directions to where we were driving. There's an underground car park for guests which was very welcome. The hotel is in an excellent location right in the centre of town. Couldn't wish for more.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor with a nice view.

I think King Solomon Hotel is good for the price. We had a nice room, with a kind of old furniture and old looking bathroom. The breakfast was great, staff was friendly, they let our car to say in their garage for the day of our check out. The room was quiet the bed was confortable. Internet was working for us. I recommend this hotel for others too.

We stayed at the King Solomon in Jerusalem for 4 nights in early June. The location is very close to the Jaffa gate of Old Jerusalem and a few good restaurants next door. The breakfast was good. Our big issues were no sheet changing during our stay, very dated furnishings, fuzz and dirt in the corners and edges of our guest room floors and slow service. Looked like they are short of staff.

Good value, good staff, good food (although my partner thought it was unimaginative).
Good location close to Old City and Modern Malls. Swimming pool area a bit cramped but one doesn"t go to Jerusalem to swim.

The King Solomon is in a wonderful location, just yards away from the King David Hotel in Central Jerusalem.

The rooms are extremely spacious when compared to other hotels in Israel, and offer sufficient wardrobe space and storage for all your clothing.

The price is very reasonable too.

I do have 2 criticisms; 1) it takes far too long for the reception to answer the phone. 2) in spite of 4 mentions to, and one visit by, someone of the hotel staff, the room air conditioning does nothing other than making a loud noise. Certainly it does NOT do any cooling.
