“So comfortable!”
Reviewed 11 January 2012

While this hotel is not in the heart of the old city, it was a welcome retreat from the exhausting bustle and the noise/crampedness of the main tourist attractions. The old city can be reached by free shuttle bus from the hotel and a pick-up from the Jaffa Gate (around 5pm) to return to the hotel is also available. There is also a brand new tram line behind the hotel which connects with the old city, traditional markets near Ben Yehuda and Yad Vashem Holocaust museum (which is some distance to the west of city centre). This hotel is modern, sparkling clean and has all the comforts of home, which are so often craved when far from home. The breakfast comprises of a huge buffet with almost every possible food you can imagine. A huge dinner buffet is also available in the evenings but we passed on that as it was expensive for smaller appetites. There are so many other places to dine in and experience in Jerusalem anyway. There is also a bar area with delicious hummous, israeli salads and light lunches. (Food served in the hotel was added to our room and was discounted at the end of the week due to an Israeli VAT refund policy for tourists?) The hotel itself is expansive with a beautiful pool area and it can get busy with bus tours. Although it gets busy, the staff do not economise on individual attention. Eyal in the concierge was a wealth of information on where to go and how to get there, local customs etc. Although we had problems with the room we were first given in the B Block (there were noisy refurbishments taking place which woke us up three mornings in a row from 7am), our complaint was handled very satisfacorily in the end. Unfortunately, we had to to wait an hour for our complaint to be dealt with as a bus tour showed up around the same time and we had to wait for passengers to be checked in. But in the end one of the nice receptionists got permission to move us (no quibble) to a beautiful room on the 6th floor overlooking the city. It had a large, beautifully sunny balcony so it made our holiday in the end. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay. We had plenty of energy for sightseeing and walking around during the day as we got very restful and peaceful sleep in a comfy bed every night. One other suggestion, as Jerusalem almost comes to a standstill for shabatt which is Friday night until sundown on Saturday (transport shuts down, and it's a bit of walk into city centre; also many restaurants shut down etc), we went on an organised trip to Masada and the Dead Sea on Saturday, so even on the shabatt, there's no reason to feel isolated, bored or hungry! Enjoy your trip to Jerusalem!

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view (but this only applies if you are at the front of the hote...

If you are one of those travellers who expect to feel wellcome at a hotel and care for cleanliness, this is not your hotel.
The staff at this hotel is the least service oriented we found during our trip. The persons at the reception do not smile at all and by the way they work, you can tell that they are not happy doing what they do. This was the first time in my life that I was able to check out at a hotel without speaking a single word and without hearing one either! We stayed there for 4 nights and by the second night, the cleaning in our room was limited to make the bed, nothing else.
Though the hotel is nice itself and the rooms are rather large for the region standards, they desperately need maintenance, at least some cleaning.
Breakfast buffet is generous, but the service here plays its role too: you almost have to beg to get some coffee and by no means expect to have your table cleaned up.
Though the price seemed to us fine. We should have spent a bit more in order to have a nicer experience. Jerusalem definitely worths it.

We spent a weekend at this hotel at the end of December. The view from our bedroom was beautiful and the Israeli breakfast was excellent.....lots of choice and well prepared. This hotel is far from the center of the city and we suggest frequent shuttle service to the Jaffa gate area.

Room Tip: Renovated room facing the old city

This is a solid hotel, pretty nice rooms, and a wonderful Israeli breakfast but the customer service was lacking. Check-in was terrible, as we had to wait 15 minutes in line before being greeted or helped. Then I was asked to sit down and wait, that the desk lady would come get me when the room was ready. This was well after check-in time. Finally, after 15 more minutes sitting down, I went back to check and she said "oh, it's ready"...

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms have a balcony and amazing panoramic view of Jerusalem

Experience was good over all, breakfast, restaurant food, but they advertise the swimming pool, but children under the age of 16 are NOT allowed and to have access to the internet is VERY, expensive. I can't see how a fairly nice hotel can get away with that kind of 3rd world mentality.

Room Tip: Don't upgrad, not worth it.

Dear Dan Jerusalem Guest,
First and foremost, we were pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay overall, and of your praise in particular of the rich breakfast buffet and restaurant food.
The heated indoor swimming pool you mentioned belongs to our luxurious Spa. I take this opportunity to assure you that the age restriction is in our guest's best interest. By no means are we trying to inconvenience you. We do our utmost to retain a serene and calm atmosphere in our Spa. As regards to your remark about the paid wireless internet connection, the vast majority of top hotels in Israel do charge for this service. The main reason for this is due to the 24 hour technical support provided.
We truly hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.
Kind regards,
The Management.

We stayed 2 parents and a teenager for three nights in a very good looking room. The front desk did their best to meet our needs, breakfast was excellent, parking available and the overall impression is very good.

Room Tip: room with terrace has maximum fresh air
