We stayed at the guest house for two nights early January 2013, at a family room (5 beds)

The room is decent, spacious and brightly lit by two large windows. It not carpeted, and only part of the floor is heated. Getting out of bed at night barefoot was COLD. The bathroom could use a facelift - water pressure is low, and the screw holding the shower head in place was loose, so we had to hold it while taking a shower. There is no bath. Breakfast was very nice, with lots of food variety. After having a hearty breakfast we (including the kids) only needed a light snack for lunch while visiting the old city.

And this is the main advantage of this hotel - it is possibly the closest you could sleep to the main sites in the old city. It is literally 30 steps from the bazaar, 15 minutes walk (child pace) to the wailing wall, even less to the church of the Holy Sepulcher. What makes it unique from other hostels in the old city is the fact it has it own, private parking which means you don't need to labor your luggage, and can still visit all the old city on foot not even needing public transportation.

If they dedicated a little more attention to the room details (carpeting, shower maintenance) I would gladly give this place 5-star rating.

We stayed here for 6 days and on our next trip we will stay longer. The location is fantastic! Walking distance to great restaurants, the Kotel inside the Old City and walking distance to other locations outside the Old City. We didn't need a car. Inside the beautiful gated courtyard is a peaceful retreat away from the frenzy of the Old City. The staff was great and the Israeli breakfast was yummy. The rooms are very simple and the shower is a challenge with the toilet and the shower practically sharing the same space, but who cares? We didn't come to Jerusalem to stay all day in the room and take a shower! If you want to experience the real Jerusalem from inside the walls of the Old City then this is the place for you. We loved it and will definitely return on our next trip!

Room Tip: The room with the balcony is great but we enjoyed the room that has the cozy shared living room with...

Just inside the Joppa gate, the Christ Church Guest House provides a peaceful haven in the Old City. The rooms are clean, but not modern. However, the value for the location and quality is outstanding. Many of the staff here are volunteers from around the world who want to live in Jerusalem for a time.

The mission of Christ Church, located within the walls of the property, is evident in the service the Guest House provides. It is a Christian organization and they work hard to provide a comfortable environment.

The breakfast buffet was pretty good, and the outdoor seating area was lovely. There is a coffee shop in the hotel that offers better than average espresso drinks.

Free parking onsite in a 24 hour gated lot was a huge plus.
Free wifi throughout the property.

This place is ok, but I really couldn't get enthusiastic about it. The staff were efficient but a bit cold and un-communicative. Unlike other nearby places (like the Lutheran Guest House, which I really rate), it wasn't an oasis of tranquility: it was actually fairly noisy. The decor in our room was ok, but a bit dated. Overall, I would have been happy with all this - if it had been half the price. I don't think Christ Church offers good value for money, compared to similar places nearby. (But finally, a positive: they do good breakfast!)

The convenience of the Christ Church is obvious ... and for the price it's not clear to us why one would not take advantage of the optimal, Old City location. In addition, Christ Church offers a substantial, traditional Israeli/Arab breakfast, and a calm, quiet courtyard with plenty of room to relax, pray, chat, read, when the day has been hectic. The one potential concern for some will be that the rooms, while tidy and clean, are dated and sparely furnished ... quite similar to a dorm room. But for the pilgrim/visitor who will spend most waking hours in the City or the courtyard, the spare furnishings are not a concern. Staff for this mission-oriented lodging are far more friendly than most ... many would quietly hum their way through their tasks and were always willing to help with advice when asked.

CCGH was a highlight in our recent holiday to Israel. It is in a superb location just inside the old city walls, at the very popular Jaffa Gate. It is a lovely although slightly quirky guesthouse set-up, with a wonderful and enthusiastic team of staff and volunteers. There are so many folks wearing “staff” tee-shirts…that you never know who is on duty…but nothing is too much trouble for any of them.
This was our second visit to Israel and we wanted a base for a lazy week inside the old city walls. The accommodation is a mix of modest guesthouse rooms and dormitory accommodation. Our twin bedded room was small, neat and very clean with a refreshing ensuite shower and effective air conditioning. There is a beautiful courtyard at the back of the building as an oasis of peace and restful calm well away from the bustle of the street…provided you could dodge the over-sharing of information by some of the more zealous visiting parties.
The historic church on the site seems to be quite active with scheduled and unscheduled services and meetings and joyful noises, which often sound better from a distance…(as compared to bagpipes). The meals/menus are relatively simple and there is always something tasty. We booked for dinner each evening for our convenience. The public coffee shop adds some interest to the set up. CCGH is not a cheap option…it is probably quite close to mid-range hotel prices but it is worth it for the wonderful and central location inside the city walls. Lots more time to wander around the old city streets and soak up the atmosphere with good access for the buses and new tram system just outside the gates. We found the CCGH via the links on the Christian Information Centre, which is nearby. We got our booking as a result of a late cancellation and we had no idea it was the extended Sukkot holiday week! Our week at CCGH was a highlight of our trip. Thank you folks. I would recommend early booking if you are interested in this venue.

This guest house was a place of peace inside the "Old City" of Jerusalem. It is only 100 meters form the Jaffa Gate which is sort of the central hub if you want to do anything in old Jerusalem. It is very clean and have reasonable rates and excellent food. It has the most beautiful courtyard where you can revive yourself after a hectic day in the "Old City". This is the place to have as your base for any activity you want to do in Jerusalem. (old en new) Bus and modern Tram line starts just outside Jaffa Gate.
