The outside of this hotel is lovely, the location is great and the food is wonderful. The beds I had in my room were 2 twins and very hard. They were both against very cold walls. The rooms need updating including the bathroom and tv. The tv cable box was balanced on top of the tv mounted on the wall and looked like it was going to fall at any time. It took me a while to figure out how to work the tv remote control. The shower curtain in the bathroom kept clinging to me, I hope it was clean. The room was very quiet. My room faced the David hotel across the street and it was nice to hear chirping birds in the morning. I totally recommend the buffet breakfast in the morning. I had dinner at the hotel a few times and the price for the food and the quality were great. I gave this hotel 4 stars because it is a good price for what you get. If you want fancy, pay loads more money and stay across the street at the David.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the street so you can see the sun come up behind the David across the str...

Stayed five nights. Excellent location with easy access to old city. Lots of choices for the free breakfast. Room was clean. Had problem with 3 noisy rooms the first night but the hotel management changed their rooms the next day. Staff all seemed to be helpful and friendly. Had a visible security guard on duty 24/7. View from the tower was outstanding.

Not too impressed by all the comments (reviews) I read on the internet, I still reserved a room for us (couple) for three nights. The rooms are not that great, but quiet, clean and functional. The location is really ideal, you can visit the old city (only a little stroll .... walk through the Mamilla shopping center to Jaffa gate). Public transportation is available. Taxi drivers take you almost everywhere in the city for about 30 - 40 shekels (4 dollars). Stop by at the hotel restaurant (small, good athmosphere, friendly waiters ... thanks Mohammed & Co.). Great food (creative an tasty) with good quality and great value! To mention: The reception desk (Michel). Always calm and good advice for any kind of wish! The pool area in the basement is a little bit filthy (sauna hmmm....), but the water quality is good. Don¨t forget to visit the tower (fantastic view). That's it! Keeps up the good work, staff! And to the management: invest into new windows!

I stayed here one night last week -- although I've been in the building before.

The building itself is exquisite architectually. The rooms, well, they're clean and the bed is decent. The TV didn't work, the water pressure in the (nice) bathroom was a trickle and I was sneezing all day, possibly from a feather pillow or something else in the room. The breakfast is really bad by Israeli standards -- cold, odd-tasting eggs, lousy coffee unless you pay a la carte for a good one, very little choice of fruit and vegetables. Don't pay for the breakfast, go out to one of the nice coffee shops in the neighborhood.

The location is great, across from the King David and an easy walk to Jaffa Gate and the Old City.

All in all, I suppose it works on a budget, but frankly there are nicer places in the neighborhood (Prima Royale, two blocks away) for the same price.

I had the pleasure staying a few nights in this lovely hotel in January. I was not too sure what to expect but the impressions I left with are priceless. First of all - I think you could walk around the hotel for a week and still not see all of it - there are symbols and signs everywhere and they are so subtle that some are hard to see at first. The hotel mirrors the importance that Jerusalem has for so many religions. It is just opposite the King David Hotel, where you would be walking around looking down on the floor to see who has been there, at the YMCA, you will walk around looking up and around and marvel at every corner of this fantastic piece of architecture. It is simply one of a kind.

I stayed in room 317 which was a suite - with a seating area. Lovely views over the front courtyard - and very quiet. Even though it was next to the lift - I could not hear it. The rooms are a little bit tired but very comfortable and adequate. Lovely bed, great heating system, great lighting and nice products in the bathroom.

The breakfast was fantastic, with scrambled eggs, lovely shakshuka, vegetables, bread, fruits, salad, houmous.. a much better start to the day than bacon and sausages :)

The Chef at the YMCA is in the top league in Jerusalem, the dishes he came up with for me were just divine, houmous - ring with fried minced meat and onions, lovely pasta, lovely fish.. I ate so much I could have rolled the 10 minutes it took to walk down to the Old City Gates... A huge thank you to the chef and the waiting staff.

I was lucky enough to get a tour up in the tower, and around the buildings by the fantastically interesting and knowledgeable CEO, Mr Houssain. He is so passionate about the buildings and the work that they do for and with kids of all religions that I could easily have listened to him for many more hours. The building deserves having a book of its own and the work done there is commendable.

The reception staff were very nice and helpful with taxis and buses and any other query I had, as were the doormen and anyone else I met there.

I can recommend this place to anyone - if you have one romantic bone in you or just love history - this is certainly the place for you. I cannot wait to go back one day.

the location is fantastic, near the old city, easy walk to the jaffa gate. The hotel building, the lobby are interesting. The hotel had a free private parking lot which was great, the people at the reception were nice and helpful, the breakfast was OK (nothing spectacular but decent with some choices). Our room was basic, clean, small (though we had a corner room with 3 windows). We also were able to use the indoor pool. All in all a good choice for a few days in Jerusalem.

The hotel itself is an attraction and is definately worth seeing. Rooms might be slightly old, but clean and basic, and perfectly fine for spending a few nights when exploring the old town. Jaffa gate is the nearest gate, and you can walk there in less than 10 minutes. Staff was helpful and sweet.
