The other reviewers have it right. The YMCA offers:
- A perfect location, within easy walking distance of almost everything
- A spectacular historic building
- Simple, fairly spartan, but fully adequate rooms
- A lovely restaurant
- Charming service, though without the uniform efficiency that one would expect of higher-priced, corporate hotel chains,

There are nicer places to stay in Jerusalem, but expect to pay twice as much.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front of the hotel overlook the front garden and dining terrace

I had always admired the architecture and location of the Three Arches Hotel, and this time got to experience a 5-day stay, which was great. It is hard to top the location, the cafe/restaurant on the terrace is magical, and the room was clean, spacious and had a view. Importantly for Jerusalem, the hotel is also economical compared with the competition.

This is our preferred hotel in Jerusalem.
It is in an old building, across the street from the prestigious King David Hotel.
The rooms are simple but large, clean, comfortable and some have nice views.
The location is perfect - close to all attractions in the city and in the old city as well.
You don't need a car! Can walk everywhere.
Excellent value for money.

You have never seen a YMCA like this one. The property was designed by the same man that did the Empire State building and they were built at the same time. From the bell tower you can see the old walled city, the Dome of the rock, the green wall and beyond that Sameria and Judea.
Our room was rather small and dated but comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was good and changes daily (no meat). The resturant also serves breakfast to order, lunch and dinner and offers beer and wine. There is free wi-fi in the lobby and a pay for use computer, There is a pool that is scheduled for men and women to swim at different times. From the garden terrace you can dine or enjoy a drink overlooking the famous King David hotel.
Overall a good value for capital city hotel. I will stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the King David

During my trip to Israel our group of seven stayed here while in Jerusalem. It is a really nice place to stay. Although the rooms are not "updated" they are clean and more than adequate for your visit. The lobby is quite lovely, and you can see where it gets its name from as there are beautiful mosaic arches stating a grand prescence. The location is great and so convenient...just across the street from the King David Hotel. We found the staff to be very pleasant and extremely helpful. Besides having a good breakfast every morning, we ended up having dinner there with friends who live in Jerusalem...the salmon entree' was one of the best I've ever had. It's a place I would not hesitate to return to.

Room Tip: All three rooms were different in size, so if you want something roomier I would ask for one of the...

Really struggled to find some good value, but nice, accommodation in Jerusalem. We decided upon the YMCA after deciding it was just for two nights. The outside of the building is undeniable beautiful - and we enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the sunshine. The location was good, about a 10 minute walk to the Old City and opposite the King David hotel.

The rooms were a huge disappointment. I expected basic but they were unfortunately pretty dirty (long hairs all over the bath and hairs on the floor), the sheets in the bed looked dirty and it was generally a downtrodden, grubby place to stay. Given the lack of affordable choice in Jerusalem, it sufficed for two nights but I certainly wouldnt stay here again.

Best feature - going up the bell tower for fabulous views of Jerusalem!! Dont miss.

This is a very pleasant and historic hotel, but needs updating for the price - though still a bargain compared to the King David Hotel opposite! The location is wonderful. And eating out on the patio is magic. Would definitely stay here again.
