“Good value for a city hotel”
Reviewed 13 November 2011

Clean room that was kept that way. Helpful staff. Good and plentiful breakfast. There are many 'fancy' hotels in Jerusalem complete with fancy prices, but this this hotel suited us and the price was good. We walked to the Old City in 20 minutes, a taxi trip was anything from 5-15 minutes depending on the time of day.

Room Tip: We joined the e-dan club when making the reservation and were upgraded to a better location room on...

We were very happy to find this hotel clean and fashionable. We were checked in quickly and after long flight made use of bottled water, good choice of teas and coffee in the room.
Room was spacious. Bathroom was spotless. I enjoyed breakfast, it offered variety of israeli and continental food.
Service was great, you can even get cappucino or espresso with breakfst w/no add'l charge.
Each morning it took us about 15-20 min to walk to old city.

Poor, 2nd rate (and that's being generous) and very much like a hostel.

I guess if you are a student or on a tight budget this may be acceptable, but if that does not describe you, then don't stay here.

Rooms were damp, bathrooms smelled, and the whole place have a feel of a hotel that you may pay by the hour for !

Dear Tripadvisor Member,
After reading your review, it was assumed that the hotel you were staying at is not the Dan Boutique Jerusalem hotel.
The Dan Boutique hotel is one of the most appreciated hotels in Jerusalem, with many returning guests, tourists as well as business people who are responding positively towards the rooms and public areas, especially the unique active bar.
Sincerely,
The Management.

Many Dan hotels are hovels, but this one is wonderful. It has been recently renovated and the rooms are very modern and chic.

The room I had featured a very nice bed (although I hate that in most Israeli hotels you don't get a queen or a king, but rather two twins pushed together) a small work desk, a nice couch and plenty of room. The lighting is subdued and pleasant, color scheme is relaxing and modern.

Bathroom is large with nice working fixtures.

They give you one hour free wireless - which is better than nothing - but this calibre of hotel should have unlimited free wireless internet.

I got a much lower price than the big hotels with tour buses parked around them, I don't have to deal with crazed touristas, and it is within walking distance to a great restaurant (colony).

Room Tip: I think you're safe with any room.

For a fairly new (4 yrs old?) 4star hotel, I was disappointed in the interior of our room. The room looked older than 4 years. There were many chips and dents in the walls. The paint job was quite poor, there were significant paint splatter on the light switches. The bathroom was huge, but a lot of wasted space, IMO. The empty area in the bathroom could've had racks or shelvings or table to maximize its use. The placement of the shower curtain was very weird, it did not effectively enclose the shower, so there was massive water leakage every time someone took a shower.

There was an atrium that connects all the floors above the 2nd floor, it has a big flat screen TV playing abstract/artsy shorts, and the floor was covered with those fake lawn carpet. I thought that was odd, but i guess I just don't get modern art.

Other than that, everything else was good. The breakfast buffet was excellent, it had a large selection of food, and servers in the buffet area were very attentive. The lobby was very trendy and fancy. Front desk staff was mediocre in friendliness. The location of the hotel is fairly close to the old city.

I think I would stay here again, but wouldn't mind trying some other place out of curiosity.

Dear Dan Boutique Guest,
We are happy to read that you will choose to stay again at the Dan Boutique Jerusalem hotel on your next visit to Jerusalem.
We are glad that the breakfast and the big selection was to your satisfaction, as well as the stylish lobby.
LCD screens are located above the hotel reception, at the lobby and on the floors walls, showing animation videos of young students of "Bezalel", one of the best art schools in the country.
Your comments were taking into consideration, were forwarded to be handled by the relevant department managers.
Sincerely,
The Management

I think they call this "boutique" because they have flat screen tvs all around the reception and lobby areas showing very short films and cartoons. There is also projections on the walls in some of the elevator lobbies on some floors. But as far as comfort and service, I wouldn't call it "boutique" (which I understand to mean, "small and fashionable." ) The rooms fit part of the definition: small, but they certainly weren't fashionable. Everything was average.

I chose to stay in a "standard" room which means overlooking the parking lot. This was OK; I wasn't planning on being in my room very much. There is a wonderful outdoor deck with comfortable chairs and tables with a beautiful view. I enjoyed being there several evenings.

I found the staff to be helpful and responsive. Breakfast buffet was fine. Since the hotel is designated as keeping Kosher, there was no meat served, but all kinds of vegitables, eggs, pastries.

It is a bit of a walk (uphill) to the Old City, but a pleasant one. Taxis were always available when I wanted to get somewhere else.

Dear Dan Boutique Guest,
The Dan Boutique Jerusalem hotel is typified by the unique welcoming, warm, personal service.
We were glad to read that you enjoyed the relaxed large outdoor terrace overlooking the magnificent view of the old and new city of Jerusalem.
There is a choice of several room categories in the hotel, while the standard rooms define by their size and the Deluxe rooms by the view to the old city.
We hope that you will allow us serving you again at the Dan Boutique hotel and show you our pleasant service.
Best regards,
The Management.

nicely decorated hotel, I stayed there 8 days: 3 days in a single room and 5 days in a suite with my husband. the room is small and the bathroom is very tiny even in the suite (same size).
Service is Israeli style at the reception desk (not a smile but efficient), more welcoming in the breakfast room if you discount the trainees. Breakfast is good and fresh and varied.
