“Very nice hotel”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

We spent three nights in this really nice hotel. It is situated a 10 minute walk from the Old Town and about 15 minute walk to restaurants and cafes. There is even a 24 hour store a block away from the Hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful, they gave us great tips on restaurants and great directions on how to get there.
The rooms are nice and big, we got a free upgrade to a deluxe room and it was huge, with a nice sitting area, a king bed and a nice flat screen TV. The bathroom was the right size and spotless clean
The breakfast had plenty of food to keep you full for most of the day. Plenty of yogurt, breads, vegetables, cereal, juice, cheeses and fruit.
We would recommend the Dan Boutique Hotel to anyone who is planning a trip to Jerusalem, you won't be disappointed!

We found this a very comfortable hotel. We had a lovely room with a large terrace overlooking most of the city (room 327). The bathroom was quit small but adequate. There was strange art in the room but it showed an effort on behalf of the hotel. The lobby has a strange design on many levels and even stranger decor - fake French provincial furniture with modern glass coffee tables. The only reason that I spent time in the lobby was that the free wifi was only available there. The staff was overall helpful but had a strange encounter with a broken lounge chair on our terrace, which was eventually switched. The breakfast was good standard Israeli breakfast. The price was high, but it was Passover in Jerusalem, during their high season where all the prices were high.

The Dan Boutique is one of those hotels that was designed and updated by an architect with his head still in the early Eighties. Rooms are orange, brown and black. That was so hip in those days. Luckily the generously distributed art and videos of the famous Bezalel Art Academy try to give this mis-designed place some flair. It's a hotel for tourists and one or two business people from out of town only. This hotel has no heart. The lobby is a place where grumpy taxi drivers hang out waiting for their next passengers. The breakfast room is tucked away and offers the same unchanged buffet each morning. Breakfast is low standard by Israeli standards. That means it's still good because you can't really serve a bad breakfast in Israel, but I've seen many bed and breakfasts and other boutique hotels that serve a meal well beyond the Dan experience. If you realize that the incomparable King David Hotel belongs to this hotel group, you wonder why they shouldn't just dump this one.

Room Tip: Just look for another hotel.

DanHotelsIsrael, Management at Dan Boutique Jerusalem, responded to this review, 30 April 2012
Dear Guest,
The rooms at the Dan Boutique hotel are decorated in a unique contemporary style, combining east and west motifs. There are no brown or black rooms at our hotel, only rooms with a few elements of these colors.
We are glad that you enjoyed the videos display of the famous Bezalel Art School students.
The taxi drivers in the lobby are helping our guests with information, providing safe rides and personal service which characterizes our hotel.
Your comments regarding the breakfast were forwarded to be handled by the food & beverage manager.
We are glad you value the King David hotel which is a premium hotel.
Best regards,
The Management.

Great hotel in the perfect location: 10 min walk to the Old City, 10 min walk to center of the Jerusalem with bustling restaurant scene. Friendly staff, good food for breakfast, comfortable rooms. We stayed there with the family for 5 nighnts, and all 3 rooms were amazing!!! You get for you pay for!!!!!

The DAN Boutique is a nicely adorned property in a fantastic location. It is less than a 15 minute walk to the Old City. The hotel itself is very aesthetically pleasing and very modern without feeling like you are in a chain hotel. The best part of this offering however is the service. The staff, from the gentleman opening the front door to the front desk staff and the waiters and bartenders were so amazing, gracious, pro-active, and helpful. My travel companion and I highly recommend this place.

I traveled with my wife and adult daughter to Israel for the first time. Based upon Trip Advisor reviews we chose the Dan Boutique and use it as a base for our trip. We could not have made a better choice. Our room was large and clean with all the amenities. The hotel staff was extremely helpful. The desk staff could not have done more assist us - from booking tickets on public transportation to making helpful suggestions. When we returned to the hotel after a two day excursion to Eilat and Petra, it was like returning to old friends. I would be remiss if I did not mention the sumptuous breakfast buffet. We began our days of exploration well "fueled" and happy. The Dan Boutique was a hit.

My wife and I found this hotel overpriced for what was offered. At hundreds of dollars per night, it was just plain insulting to have to pay additional fees for internet access, when much less expensive hotels all over Israel offer it for free. I wouldn't go back.

Dear Guest,
The Dan Boutique hotel is characterized by warm, personal service as well as best value for the money. We are sorry that we did not fulfill your expectations.
Many hotels are charging for the use of the Internet.
Nevertheless, Internet in the lobby of the Dan Boutique is free of charge.
Sincerely,
The Management.
