Our stay was April 20-25, 2012. The Hotel is not in the main stream area and the area around this hotel is shabby. The room was a double with 2 twin beds next to each other...you had better know your travel companion very well. The bathroom is very small with both a hand held shower and full shower. The window in the bathroom was a nice plus. The lounge is one level up by stairs from the lobby. Plenty of room to be comfortable.Full Bar in this area. The meals were served buffet and very solid food, good variety and nice table settings. I would give this hotel a 3+ rating and it mainly functions as a tourist hotel.Pleasant staff.

Room Tip: we had room 114 and it had a nice tree out the bathroom window

Dear Guest,
The Dan boutique hotel is definitely located in a main stream area. Within a walking distance to the old city; 7 minutes walk to the German Colony, 7 minutes bus ride to the city center and near many other tourist attractions, such as the Lab theatre/club, The Han Theatre, the Jerusalem Cinemateque, the Sultan Pool, etc.
Many guests prefer to stay at the Dan Boutique for the exceptional location
The Dan Boutique hotel is a small hotel provides a personal service and responds to our guests requests.
The beds at the hotel are assembled to meet our guest request. We are arranging the bed according to the guest request and comfort.
We were glad to read that you valued the windows in the hotel bathrooms and enjoyed the public areas and breakfast service.
We hope that you will choose to stay with us again.
Best regards,
The Management.

The hotel is a bit away from all the action, but its a short walk. The breakfast buffet changed each day with a variety of hot items. The fruit was fresh each morning and the dessert was very good. Service was quick and there was a lot to choose from. Free wi-fi in the lobby, bar and cafe was great! The room was big enough for two without any issues, very modern design. The Jerusalem Post was also provided each morning. There was a grocery store just a block down that also had an ATM, which was quite helpful. Security always checked us in when we went through the lobby, which was common in Israel. Very nice hotel, but we would probably stay closer to the action next time.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor, so we didn't have to wait for the elevator, but it would have been...

The hotel is well located and isn't too large, so if you're there for any length of time the staff gets to know you and is very helpful and friendly. One complaint is that it is the obly hotel we've ever been in that has no clock at all in the room. The room was adaquate, but like a lot of Israeli hotels, a little on the small side. The bathroom was also on the small side but had a window and that made putting on makeup a lot easier than trying to do it in the poorly lit room. It was almost impossible to read in the room after dark due to the poor lighting. The 3rd floor has a lovely balcony/terrace where you can sit and admire the lovely view. The breakfasts here were the worst of the three hotels we stayed at, probably because it was the only one where you couldn't get eggs cooked to order, and besides the bread, it was ther main food on the buffet that interested us as we're not big on salads for breakfast or food kept in warmers.

The hotel is new, spacious, comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast.

Service is mostly good, rooms are cleaned promptly, but some details are missing (the tea mug was cracked, I left it there thinking it would be replaced, but it was just lightly rinsed and put back).

The negatives:

1. location is on the other side of old city in respect to most other hotels and restaurants, and there is a not very attractive neighborhood right behind the hotel. You can walk to old city in 15-20 min, but there is not much around. Should not be an issue if you have a car.

2. Internet is free in the lobby, but you need it in the room, if you want to use Skype, or similar service. Then it becomes ridiculous 70 shekel a day. Moreover, there is a PC with a printer in a lobby, but it is not free, and if you want to print a boarding pass, you have to buy minimum of 25 shekel worth of internet access. Of course, none of this is listed on the website, it lists internet in the room and PC in the lobby among amenities. In this day and age, the hotel's internet policy is nothing but hidden costs, and that leaves an aftertaste.

So, overall, it's a reasonably good hotel, but you may want to check out some other options as well.

Room Tip: Room 203 looked at the parking lot

We spent three nights in this really nice hotel. It is situated a 10 minute walk from the Old Town and about 15 minute walk to restaurants and cafes. There is even a 24 hour store a block away from the Hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful, they gave us great tips on restaurants and great directions on how to get there.
The rooms are nice and big, we got a free upgrade to a deluxe room and it was huge, with a nice sitting area, a king bed and a nice flat screen TV. The bathroom was the right size and spotless clean
The breakfast had plenty of food to keep you full for most of the day. Plenty of yogurt, breads, vegetables, cereal, juice, cheeses and fruit.
We would recommend the Dan Boutique Hotel to anyone who is planning a trip to Jerusalem, you won't be disappointed!

We found this a very comfortable hotel. We had a lovely room with a large terrace overlooking most of the city (room 327). The bathroom was quit small but adequate. There was strange art in the room but it showed an effort on behalf of the hotel. The lobby has a strange design on many levels and even stranger decor - fake French provincial furniture with modern glass coffee tables. The only reason that I spent time in the lobby was that the free wifi was only available there. The staff was overall helpful but had a strange encounter with a broken lounge chair on our terrace, which was eventually switched. The breakfast was good standard Israeli breakfast. The price was high, but it was Passover in Jerusalem, during their high season where all the prices were high.

The Dan Boutique is one of those hotels that was designed and updated by an architect with his head still in the early Eighties. Rooms are orange, brown and black. That was so hip in those days. Luckily the generously distributed art and videos of the famous Bezalel Art Academy try to give this mis-designed place some flair. It's a hotel for tourists and one or two business people from out of town only. This hotel has no heart. The lobby is a place where grumpy taxi drivers hang out waiting for their next passengers. The breakfast room is tucked away and offers the same unchanged buffet each morning. Breakfast is low standard by Israeli standards. That means it's still good because you can't really serve a bad breakfast in Israel, but I've seen many bed and breakfasts and other boutique hotels that serve a meal well beyond the Dan experience. If you realize that the incomparable King David Hotel belongs to this hotel group, you wonder why they shouldn't just dump this one.

Room Tip: Just look for another hotel.

Dear Guest,
The rooms at the Dan Boutique hotel are decorated in a unique contemporary style, combining east and west motifs. There are no brown or black rooms at our hotel, only rooms with a few elements of these colors.
We are glad that you enjoyed the videos display of the famous Bezalel Art School students.
The taxi drivers in the lobby are helping our guests with information, providing safe rides and personal service which characterizes our hotel.
Your comments regarding the breakfast were forwarded to be handled by the food & beverage manager.
We are glad you value the King David hotel which is a premium hotel.
Best regards,
The Management.
