We booked 1 standard room and 3 suites for 3 nights. The suites were far larger than the standard room which was small and the bathroom average. The hotel caters for large tour groups. The front staff were friendly and concierge service adequate. The one buffet dinner and the breakfasts were very good with a large variety. The major disappointment was the exceptionally dirty carpet in the dining room.
It is a long walk (at least 20 mins brisk walking), up a hill from the old city, but a big advantage is that it is directly opposite the First Train Station which is a new entertainment and restaurant development and a trendy place to visit.

Room Tip: The suites are different sizes so request a large room

Reception staff were pleasant and dealt well with our need to change our room. The hotel also acted speedily after being told that the basin wouldn't drain away properly.

Only one easy chair in bedroom and bathroom poorly tiled and now looking dated.

Amazing spread for breakfast. Bar serves a limited selection of hot food all day.

Free WIFI throughout and 2 free PCs available for use.

The hotel is located in the southern part of the city, some 20-mins walking distance from the walls of the old town. The hotel runs Kosher kitchen only which means no meat if dairy is served. Therfore, if you expect a juicy ham for your breakfast - forget it. Honestly, I was missing this information when booking my room via booking.com. The hotel standard are the solid three stars - not more, not less. Our triple room was a bit small. Wifi in the hotel rooms is a bit disatreous. It works much better in the lobby. We paid ome 250 euro per roomnight which much too much for the quality and service offered.

Dear krzys1970,
Thank you for your review of your recent stay with us.
Indeed, the hotel is located in a central location, close to shops and restaurants and not far from the Old City; additionally, the new 'Tachana' entertainment zone.
Sorry if you were not informed about the general kosher laws that almost every hotel in Israel abides to. We will pass on to Booking.com that they should highlight the kosher laws a bit more carefully.
We hope you enjoyed the further insight into the finer details of the Jewish dietary laws.
Should you decide to return without the expectation of meat products in the morning, we'd be delighted to welcome you back,
Best regards,
Shimrit Ohana

My wife and I were there for five nights with a tour group and this was a good place to stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke passable English. The room was comfortable, even after five nights. The bathroom had only one sink and the shower sprayed water all over the floor. The shower curtain did not surround the tub! (Why do some really nice hotel have that problem?)
The view was the rear parking lot, but that was not a problem.
The breakfast and dinner buffet was good as one would expect in Israel. Very Kosher! My wife loved the fresh fruit and veggies. I didn't like the wet and runny scrambled eggs, but I may just be a complainer. Yeah, the fruit was good...and the desserts...but salad for breakfast!!
We enjoyed visiting the old train station/mall right around the corner. The convenience store next door was good for replacing batteries. And we did walk up the long hill to the King David Hotel, just to look around. So good, just not great!

Stayed there for 2 nights. Reception staff were very friendly on arrival and always available for advise. Teddy and Neil always warmly welcomed us. Its about a mile from the old city, you can walk down but its about 20 min down hill and then 20 min up hill on the straight road but can take a .bus direct to there as well. We had room on first floor in front of the hotel, so the view from room was just acceptable and I thought it might be bit noisy at night but the sound proofing was ok and double curtains kept the light out as well. Room was spacious and very clean, beds very comfortable especially the pillows were very soft, Bathroom was a bit small with very less space to move around and there was a step down from the bedroom which made it tricky as at night when you wake up you forget about it in the dark.
Breakfast had a lot of choices and we really enjoyed but it does get very busy even though we were not in the tourist season as a lot of business people stay there so if you have an early start of the day you might not get the place near the buffet.
There is Old railway satiation around the corner with a lot of choice for food at night.
The only think I did not like about the hotel was not having a free wifi in bedrooms which is quite standard now in 4 star hotels. It is available in lobby but that means going down and then there are a lot of people using Skype / FaceTime around you and it gets a bit noisy. I would stay there again.
